Hello guys,
Its coming up to xmas as we all know. My girlfriends Son is 5 and currently has a bike with 14'' wheels on. And hes a little to big for it now.
So im thinking to get him on a decent 20'' wheeled bike. As if we get anything smaller by the time summer comes he will be too big for it again.
Weve looked at all the ones from Toys r us etc.
But I personally think her son likes biking as whenever i mention going up the chase he wants to come lol. So id prefer a more robust bike. Not a BMX
I was browsing bikes last night and came across a Specialized Hotrock Boys 20''
We both like the look of it. But im curious if theres any other bikes you guys would reccomend?
Thanks
Phil

I had this problem when I wanted a good bike for my lad.. He's 6 now and has no interest in MTB, just BMX and scooters. I looked at the following when I was thinking about getting him a bike. Cube kids bikes
Islabikes
And the one I really wanted to get On One baby fatty

My son has the Hotrock and he loves it. As he has got quite into biking when he moves up a bike size I think we would look at Commencal

Isla's look like cheap 90s throwbacks to me, I know they're technically good and well proportioned, but at that age you'd rather have a batman bike that looks the bizzo, has many suspensions, crap discs and weighs 2 tonnes, rather than something sensible and practical your bike nerd dad approves of.

Will he fit a 20" bike? How tall is he? There are 16" options. The pinnacles @ evans look ok and frog bikes too. www.evanscycles.com/products/pinnacle/ash-20-inch-kids-bike-ec045261The thing with Isla bikes is the value they hold.. you'd be amazed at what 2nd hand ones go for. Ive just bought this for one lucky 4 year old daughter (Early rider 16" Belter as christmas present.. paid £189) This looks 20" bike from them looks promising and supposed to be coming out next year (will have rigid fork option).. has 3 gear rear hub, disc brakes etc

I would check out the Hoy bonnay (sp?).
Just got one for my 4 yr old, seems to be a less cooky looking version of an Isla bike. They have them at Evans

We went for a Commencal Ramones 24" for my boy and got my girl a 20" Specialized Hotrock, both look well put together plus the eventual resale should be good.
