Unlucky fella! I'm struggling with a bad elbow still, as you've experienced, it's always used and never rested properly! June time we're doing a loop in Cumbria, maybe you'll be 'rate for that!...

Will ..sorry to hear your news .. Is this condition likely to get better with rest ? The reason I ask is that although it would be good to meet on the " Cumbria " ride ..this also will involve a fair amount of pushing in the early stages .. Best wishes for a good recovery

Ill go along with whatever but if it was upto me I would say meet at penmachno for half 9ish, do the loop then get to the accommodation for a bit of food and unpack, then head to CYB for the afternoon, back for a bbq at 6/7ish, or if bbq sounds like hard work get in touch with the place and find out if there are any take aways near by that we can go get a load of pizzas/curry/Chinese etc
Sunday, up and ready, breakfast and hit Snowdon as soon as everyone is up

It is with great reluctance I am dropping out. Had an MRI scan on my knee and it revealed a tear in the meniscus (cartlidge). I have continued to ride with just a little discomfort which increases after the ride but clears somewhat within a day. The main problem is walking - after 20 to 30 yards I am in quite a lot of pain which results in a pronounced limp. Also, it can lock up or give way. Snowdon will be a lot of pushing/carrying the bike and it is this I am sure I will not be able to do, hence why I have taken the decision I have. Deep down I have known for a while but wanted to give myself every chance. So, if anyone wants to take my place (gratis) they are welcome to it. I am not sure if there is any more to pay. If interested pm me or Jay (iRide) - (hope that's okay Jay) That's bad news, Will. Gutted for you With regard to your place in the camping barn, there is no money to pay! I'll leave it up to you what happens with your place. Sorry you won't be there, mate. Ill go along with whatever but if it was upto me I would say meet at penmachno for half 9ish, do the loop then get to the accommodation for a bit of food and unpack, then head to CYB for the afternoon, back for a bbq at 6/7ish, or if bbq sounds like hard work get in touch with the place and find out if there are any take aways near by that we can go get a load of pizzas/curry/Chinese etc Sunday, up and ready, breakfast and hit Snowdon as soon as everyone is up I like the sound of that plan. I think we can check in after 10am or 10.30am, I'll have to double check! Food wise, a BBQ sounds a superb idea and I know a chap who is coming to Snowdon who can get alsorts of burgers etc for cheap as a relative works in the shop If we meet at Penmachno and ride there then go to the camping barn for food etc, those who don't fancy CyB can hang about on the campsite or something!? I'll give them a bell tomorrow when I get up and double check the check-in times and ask about local take-aways & shops etc.

Penmancho and the Beast will be tough you know!... I was bollloxed after the Beast, and I was fit then!... Either or for me!.. Yeah, I was thinking of a blue route and a play on the freeride to be honest. The Beast would be way too much for me after Penmachno.

Go over the road at CYB and do the black bull (Tarw du), only an hour or so to do, it's really really good and worth it for the new bit and snap crackle and pop

I've always wanted to do the Blue at CYB tbf. As for food I am the mystery relative of a relative that works in a butchers and can get quality burgers/ spicy BBQ stuff pretty cheap and am happy to do that - however, it might be a bit of a faff feckin about with barbies after a full day on the trails and the takeaway is the easier option.
I'll go with whatever.

My view is, 2 young kids means I normally aim to be back fairly early on days out, I have a free weekend so I'm gonna ride as much as possible whats the blue like? I would like to do Tarw Du again, it's technical in places and also offers good descents, have a YouTube takes about an hour and a half to do. You tube Tarw du

Will, really sorry to hear of that - what bad timing. It's an op I've had more than once and is a doddle, it's also the only cure, just a shame on the timing, you'll be right as rain days after the keyhole but not in time for Snowdon. Bugger.

I think meeting at Penmachno and riding there first is a good idea. Once we're done there, we can sort ourselves out at the camp site and see what's what.
Not everybody will want to ride too much on the Saturday but those who do want to ride, can..
I'd be tempted to have a go at the place Nelly suggested over the road from CyB, then doing something at CyB itself, be it blue route or whatever.
I think a lot of the who's riding what and when can be sorted out at the campsite after Penmachno.
I think meeting at Penmachno rather than the campsite is a good idea..
Is everybody happy with meeting at Penmachno and riding there before going to the campsite??

One thing I'm REALLY keen on sorting out is food.
I'll give them a call tomorrow and see where we stand with regards to local takeaways..

One thing I'm REALLY keen on sorting out is food. I'll give them a call tomorrow and see where we stand with regards to local takeaways.. I've been on events like this before with running and motorbike groups staying in climbing huts.
What seems to work is going to a local pub for the Saturday night meal but a take away sounds ok to me. -Could take some Lidl/ lidi/asda ready meals to heat up. I don't mind if we have a whip round for a barbie either.
Other meals like brekky and drinks and snacks : Could take our own as we all know what we like or those who want to, if there is a local café, use that.
I must admit I don't like leaving things to chance so tend to take some food with me. Might be worth knowing what there is kettle/ micrwave/ toaster/ cooker wise.
Don't put too much responsibility on yourself Jay, you've already organised the roof over our heads.
Do we need sleeping bags BTW?

Yes mate, they say take sleeping bags. Pretty sure there is a microwave in the barn. I'll check the website again. Pub food sounds good, if there is somewhere decent locally. See what they say to Jay.

The website says there is a toaster, kettle, microwave, plates, cups, glasses, cutlery & crockery, fridge, sink with hot water, chairs & tables, oven & hob, Tv & DVD player, complimentary tea and coffee.
You need to take sleeping bag/blanket, pillow cases and towels.

Right then... The nearest place for take away food is Dolgellau which is 10 minutes away by car. We can get Chinese, fish & chips, pizza and Indian food. The local pub is a mile and a half away. They will take us to the pub and pick us up again afterwards for a couple of quid each, we'd also get 10% off meals there. Going to the pub would obviously mean that our bikes would be left unattended at the campsite. There is nobody booked into the camping barn the night before we arrive so she said we are more than welcome to check in from 9am. If people do book into the barn the night before we arrive, she'd need time to clean etc so can check in from around 10am. So, with all that in mind:- Meet at Penmachno, Bring your own food that you might need Saturday daytime, Take away Saturday night, Bring your own food for Sunday breakfast and the ride up Snowdon Pub lunch after Snowdon.. Thats what I suggest anywho but you lot do whatever the fuck you want........
