Me and the boy were left by the women to play on our own today so thought it rude not to go and have a little jaunt along the canal. The only rules were keep away from thorns and dog poo, he did a good job of the later (this time) but caught a thorn. We limped to the next bridge, got off the canal, got the wheel off to inspect the damage. Found the main culprit without pumping the tube up so asked him to inspect inside the tyre for any thorns sticking through, after he found the fifth I knew we were in trouble I had two decent patches but the rest were self adhesive things that are about as sticky as 3in1, used the two gooduns but others were shite, it was gonna be getting dark soon so the emergency phone call was made to pick the boy up and I rode home thinking what a tosser i was for not having the correct (quantity of) stuff to deal with a simple situation like a puncture, it also highlighted how shite my pump is so the question is What pumps are you guys using and also what puncture repair kits are you carrying ? I need a decent repair kit otherwise we won't be allowed out to play again

Tubeless, if you can't be arsed with that then take spare tubes, I've never repaired a tube, just whack a new one straight in

Good little pump, saved me a few times. Puncture kit i generally have a small roll of about a dozen old school glue on patches in case. That an a spare tube. If your going down tow paths a lot with him may be worth getting him into the world of tubeless.

Been using this one recently www.chainreactioncycles.com/topeak-mini-dual-pump/rp-prod2907 Does my MTB tyres in about 3 pumps and gets my road bike tyres up to an acceptable pressure too I actually prefer the glueless patches, alot less faff. You could always get him some slime tubes, they weigh alot but it may be easier for him not having to deal with punctures
