I'm pretty sure it is just an slx or deore shifter with a different name on the side, I didn't like the feel of mines so swaped it for a saint

Zee brakes are worth it, the rest of the zee line up is decent enough if you can get it cheap but I wouldn't spec it out of choice

I use the Zee shifter and Zee rear mech. Been really pleased with it on my 1x10 set up... It is a lot bigger than my old XT, and has a different feel to it, but i like it. The 2 way release works a treat I'd go for it, i brought mine for £22 and i thought it was a bargain

Yeah I wasn't saying its bad, I ran the mech and shifter on my DH bike in 1x10 and 1x7 and was faultless on every single ride. Buy it if its cheaper than SLX or XT

Saint is probably better (more expensive) .. crisper and more precise. Its a shimano rip off of SRAM but made 10x better... Upshift 2 at a time and Longer levers too. Saint FTW.

I run a saint shifter and zee mech.. You dont actually have to upshift 2 at a time but im just saving wear and tear on thumb.

I might take a punt at it for the money, if I don't like the action I'll buy a slx one instead.

Zee shifter is rubbish I have one on my hardtail but its no where has nice has the SLX I have on the Covert, The shifting is too vague and numb like its not actually attached to the mech! works perfect but I prefer the SLX with the solid click up and down. Thanks to Richie for advising regards the SLX I don't think I would have anything else to do the job.

I just moved from an SLX shifter/XTR mech to Zee mech and shifter on the new bike, feels much better in my eyes. Maybe I'm missing something but prefer how it clicks and feels compared to my old shifter. If your getting it cheap you can always sell it on if you don't like it

Zee is to saint, what deore is to XT.... Its a budget DH orientated range. Nothing wrong with it. I wouldn't personally spec it though...

Isnt the zee and slx rear mech more or less the same?? Wouldnt run a zee shifter. This is where using the Saint Shifter smooths out the zee mech IMO. You wouldnt realise you were using a zee mech. And also.. think of your thumbs.

Slx it is then, can't be doing with shitty gear changes, I've got Xt and slx on both bikes and to be honest I can't tell the difference.

Zee mech is nothing like any other that shimano make. Its a different design to most others. It's like a frankinmech but it does feel good with the SLX shifter.
I've got Zee shifter and mech on my Commencal and it feels too easy to shift? Where has the Covert with the SLX shifter is spot on. I used to have Saint mech with XTR shifter on my Jekyll and that felt nice and quick but again the shifts are dull.

Did I mention how good the Saint shifter is?
