me and Michael (roundie) went for a wobble round the local 10 miler this morning.the snow that fell on Friday night had frozen on top,but the mud underneath was still as gloopy as buggery meaning traction was almost non existent in places.we were obviously the first ones out since the snow landed so it was hard going in places but still a pleasant 3 hour jaunt.
it was bloody freezing when we met at 8.30 but Michael`s so hard he didn`t even put a coat on

some nice single track through these woods.

this chute is steeper than it looks but was running quite slow with all the snow cover.

Michael just about to aim for `roundies tree` and hoping not to hug it...again

'Twas a nice crisp mornings ride paul, burnt off a few of the Christmas calories!! Suppose I'll have to clean the bike another day, before it goes to its new owner. Had a nice recovery meal of cheese and crackers!!!!

Nice lookin ride! Funny how you guys are snowed in down there and way up a where I am there's nothing but rain... Boooo! Do you ever get a lot of snow on the island Mata? With it being coastal I have always thought that the salty sea air would keep things fairly clear ( maybe a stoopid thing to say !) ...

I`ve just read a crime fiction novel set on lewis and I was shivering me nuts off just reading it.i reckon any snowfall would get blown from one side of the island straight across and out to sea on the other side lewis does look stunning mind

I mentioned this on t'other forum ..so won't bore the tits off everyone again with the full story ...but spent a family holiday on Harris just down from Lewis back in 2007 where I managed to wangle my bike with me and got two rides in. I've got to say that they were two of the most picturesque & beautiful rides I have ever done ...and one of the best ..if not the best family holidays ever ..get the right weather and the beaches and sea colour are almost Carribean in texture ..plus you can be on a 2mile stretch all on your own ..absolute perfection ! I am a huge fan of that part of the world and would recommend anyone to visit ..with ( preferably ) or without the bike .

Yes I remember you saying hodgy! This place really does have some great places to cycle for such a small island/s Yea we do get a bit of snow and stacks of ice up here! Been pretty rough the last month or so haha. Here's a pic or two from last week, snow only lasted a day though this time!
