That to me is what mountain biking is all about ...not that I have done anything that extreme or at that altitude ..but swap the tent for B&B's and our lot have done quite a bit of wilderness riding in Scotland ..which is about as far out there as you can get on these Isles ..and where personally I am happiest on a bike .
Trail centres are fantastic and serve a purpose ..especially in the winter when the moors & fells are sodden ..but given a choice ..give me natural everytime .
Cheers for sticking with it and posting it Bob ..really enjoyed watching that ..not sure about the pissed up ..gun toting bandits though ..although saying that it's pretty similar to Scotland ....
