Ok I'm looking for an enduro bike. Did the cut gate ride on Boxing Day on my 17kg steed and Christ it hurt but was fun on the way back down. So any recommendations for enduro bikes? Also I'm 5' 10" so what frame size would you get typically. The bike I have at the min is a medium but that's because it's a "free ride" bike.
Any help much appreciated guys!

I'm 5'10 and have gone for medium for my last two frames, suits me fine, as for what to get i'd suggest sitting on and riding a few if you can cos theres shit loads to choose from plus wheel size may affect your frame size decision. EDIT This is long but worth a read

What kind of budget do you have, you could go all out and bust the bank but if you look around theres some bargains out there Size wise, i would still say medium except if you go for a Santa Cruz which are well known to come up small, saying that get your ass on a few, my mate tried lots, Kona process, trek remedy, cannondale jekyl, orange 5 to name a few, but he went for a Saracen Ariel 151, which i also rode and it really is a fun playful bike to ride, its also in the Dirt mag top bikes of the year, your choice tho

Budget rules everything to start with ... At least sit on and try a Santa Cruz 5010c ,Kona Process or a Mondraker Foxy ..there are different specs to suit different budgets ..but as had already been said ..sling a leg over as many as possible until you find " the one" Funnily enough I had the same philosophy when it came to women ....

Thanks lads for the help, I'm going to head to a few shops and have a sit and ride a few, I'll go with a medium, to be fair my current bike feels good as a medium just having to put the seat up high to stretch the legs a bit... Budget wise around 1500 mark so will be a used bike. It's just finding time to go look at some when I find them and make sure they aren't knackered!
I've been looking at kona process and commencal meta's now I know a few more to look for ill have a gander. There aren't many enduro bikes for sale on eBay and the likes... Even if I search all mountain.
If I can't find the ideal bike used I'll probably put 1500 deposit on a new one and get a finance deal for the rest they seem to be cheaper than loans at the min either that or bang it on the credit card...
Hope you all had a good Christmas chaps

Come join the mega club, you'd pick up a nice second one for that and we can all be mega gays

You got bits to swap or are buying complete, as above there is a reason there are so many mega's on here, they are a decent all rounder for a good price

I'm 5-11" and fall right on the borderline between M an L so I can understand your quandary. I was tempted by some deals on Santa Cruzes at Pedal and Spoke. Both large : Heckler with reverb at £2100, Bronson for £2999
In the end (after sitting on allsorts) I went for a L orange pro which cost £2480 before reverb and 1x10 conversion. The M felt just a bit cramped but might suit you.... Drakes at Leeds had a very nice ex-demo M at a good discount.
