Hi, just want to show you all my Bike, I know its nothing compared to some peoples bikes on here but i love riding it so its good enough for me. I was also wondering about a 180 disc on the front, the brakes are Tekro aquila not sure if the forks would take a 180 .

It doesn't matter what other people have got ..the main thing is you have a bike which you clearly love riding and a whole lifetime in front of you for " better " bikes . I'm afraid I don't have the answer to your question regarding the disc rotor ..hopefully someone else will . Good to hear from you

Welcome to the site. Nothing wrong with a GT mate. Good strong bike and loads of fun. What kind of forks are on it? I think they're suntour but not sure which model. Reckon we could find out what rotors you could use from the website.

welcome to the forum, and i think a 180 front would be ok as i run one on a pair of suntour forks and it hasent bent them in 12 months, so go for it ,and welcome to the upgrade bug after disks, it will be grips stem and so on till you are skint

Welcome. Bike looks fine to me.
Enthusiasm is king. You won't find bike snobbery on here although riding a road bike, having an Orange or fitting big mudguard might expose you to some piss taking.

Basically don't buy an Orange RX9 and fit mudguards to it and you'll be fine. As for the bike, if it takes you down the hills you want it to then it does its job! As for the disks, it looks like the mount is IS (International Standard) and no a post mount which may pose some issues with getting an adapter to allow for the larger discs. Not putting a dampener on the idea, just making sure you're aware of any potential pitfalls.

Point of order Mr Chairman: You are allowed to ride an Orange-5 if you are a farmer or work on a building site.

I remember when you 1st bought that bike, ruined bottom bracket on it i think and a few other issues, Looks sweet as now though and great to hear its running sweet too. Good to see your still at it. Good ole,GT, i begged and begged for a GT Karakoram in red with the smashed paint effect when i was a kid, it was my dream bike. Never got one though.

Yep, ruined bottom bracket, front wheel was terrible quality bearings weren't put in properly, back wheel buckled with no collision then my friend smashed into a made it unusable, forks seized up, had a puncture when received, cost another £150 to fix ontop of the £200 I bought it for and being 14 years old .
