The CRC description shows these brakes as having DOT 4 but youtube videos by SRAM and the MTB mags state that DOT 5.1 should be used. I'd be inclined to use 5.1 myself but wonder if I'd cause problems if 4 is already in there. Maybe they are compatible and/or 5.1 is better
What do you guys think?

The Avid service manual for elixer 1 brakes says 5.1 as do Epic bleed solution who recommend 5.1 for all avid brakes. It wouldn't be the first time CRC have got it wrong.

I think question here is not which oil to use, more can you actually bleed them?
