Can't see why you couldn't do it, but I'd bet it would still be a pain in ar*e to fit on the hang on rack. The bike will still swing about whilst moving too rubbing against other bikes fitted to the rack. I've struggled with strap on racks for a few years but got one of these a few weeks ago www.halfords.com/cycling/accessories/cycle-carriers-bike-racks/thule-9403-3-bike-tow-bar-carrierI was going to buy the one you linked from the roofbox company but saw the above for sale second hand, hardly used for £50 in Burton!

I know it can be a pain but it does fit to the towball but still is the hanging type rather than the type you are getting. As it's a towball one it's really solid to use but a little fiddley at times. Think i will try the top tube for £18 as I have everything else i need. Plus my bike is always first on so a strap it to the frame as well so no movement at all.

use plumbing pipe lagging on any touching metal and a few bungees and you will be ok with the hanging type!

its happened a few times at guisboro, you can follow a car with bikes on from a great distance without attracting attention, then as said above, theyy turn up in the middle of the night and help themselves!

I have the roof rack option for when i am towing the van but i don't want to leave it up there due to cost of fuel and tell tale signs. TBH my mate was working in his garage all day saturday and lots of folk walk pass and I think they've tried their luck. My garage is out of sight for passer bys but find the towbar holder quicker and easier to use plus it doesn't effect my fuel useage driving to Degla like the roof option.

I use the tow bar one as well , just make sure you protect the forks and stuff bit of a tight fit Plus the rack tilts away from your boot when you need to open it

Just in case anyone else thinks of getting one these then my review is it is shit! Tbf good quality just doesn't suit my bike frame. Back to the drawing board and going to buy a tow ball mounted one as linked in the original post.
