I ran the same setup, xt 11-36 and a shadow plus long rear mech. Shifting was ok but not prefect so I bought a medium inner cage and a one up radcage and now the shifting is spot on. I only had issues going up and down the gears ,once in gear it was fine.

When i first went 1x10 i was 11-42 with medium xt mech, gear changing was a total nightmare and impossible to set B tension screw correctly. Fitted the rad cage and it sorted everything out,no probs at all.

Common fault as the shifting ramps aren't machined correctly..
