Pretty interesting riding conditions for the NDH TT race in Chopwell Woods today Was enjoying riding it so much in practice, posted 1.50 according to Strava and supported by GoPro footage, that I may have tired myself out and so many runs later with slightly tired legs posted 2.05 in both race runs - just enough to hang onto the top step!

Me and my mate were only the 3rd and 4th riders to go down the track when it was still thick snow, didn't film that run - that was so grippy, but a few runs later it became like polished glass. Basically, touch your brakes and you're going down! Then it turned to mud slush by race runs.
Think I should have put a few more psi in the tyres as conditions changed to help cut through the mud but I know now for future!

I'm not the only one that realises air pressure is important Well done Rach - looks great that, you know you're doing summat right when you are top stepping when you are only at 80% or so. PS I liked the 'Wooah! feckin ell!' near the start - looked bloody slippy that did!

Good result. Missed this one again, though I'm not massively disappointed given the weather. I'm looking forward to the hamsterley TT in April though

You must have misheard me... First race clipped in since Red Bull Foxhunt, brought spare flat five tens just incase but forgot flat pedals! Dope! But if I'd been in flats I'd have been tempted to throw feet out on corners which would have actually made things worse, instead I committed!

I ride clipped in sometimes, but in that weather it takes some nerve! You weren't going slow either! I get the Michael ripped out of me summat rotten by these heathens down here, because I have a digital pressure gauge and I'm not afraid to use it Glad someone like you who races agrees!

Oh man I'd love to have a digital gauge! I have pump envy!! Same too with shock and forks...every single psi makes a difference! Apparently hit 38 km/h a couple of times down there on that filmed run and averaged 25 km/h!

Nice work.
I'm with you both on the tyre pressures. Check pressures every ride with a digital pressure gauge (25 front and 30 rear is bang on at the minute) and suspension done with a digital shock pump. Every little helps.

Round here I've been running 28 up front and 30 rear. Dropped to 20 and 22 for the snow and ice runs and it felt so quick and stable.
Should have whacked it back up for second race run when it got sticky, worst that could happen would have been a crash but at least I already had a time in the bag. All goes down as lesson learnt the hard way.

Mostly I'm at 26 front 28/29 rear, but go a little higher if it's good conditions. I think a couple of PSI either way makes a huge difference. Rach and Geton agree with me. *feels vindicated*

Malamute I've got the top peak digital jobbie - cost me £25 at Swinno's! Money well spent though, in my eyes. Sure you can find em cheaper. Prepare yourselves for some gauge porn, I was thinking of putting a *Not Safe For Work* tag on this vid, but maybe it's just me that gets so excited by digital gauges
