had a whale of a time up at Fort William last August with Euan and Tom..... all good fun... then on my last run down of the first day I came off the bike and landed on my back right on top of a lump of granite... typically the only part of my anatomy that wasn't armoured was the part that hit first........ cue an excruciating pain that I had never experienced before..... bummer... my weekend was over..... took a long, long time for the injuries to heal....
haven't been back on a bike since that day...... Today I eventually cleared all the shed junk that had been piling up around the bikes..... managed to get them out and up on the bike stand.... all gears/brakes/tyres and air pressure checked over and cogs oiled.....(downhill rig needs 2 new tyres! and brakes to be bled)
I will be getting out on the we Trek 4500 HT tomorrow for a wee bimble round the country lanes to begin with...... as since August I have piled on nearly 2 stones of extra fat stores.......gonna be tough on my old derriere for a while....
but the hardest part has been done.... just need to get on the bike and ride the fat stores away...... :-)

Good luck, it'll be a long hard road but the rewards will be worth the effort.

now 12 weeks in...... start weight was 196lbs (BMI 31.6), I am now down to 181lbs (BMI 29.2).... feeling a great deal fitter that I was at the start.... Arthritis is killing my knees though...but I can work with that.... hitting the gym twice a week and doing a fair bit of Cardio what with walking and biking..... had been doing roughly an hour or so (15 miles) biking with plenty of hills thrown in for good measure when I was out... but this week I have started a 20min HITT program when out on the bike..... 1 min nice easy pace and then 2 min of all hell breaking loose.... max distance is about 4.62 miles.... but I tell ya what ....I can't feel my legs afterwards.....
My Mrs. thought I had an accident or a puncture the first time I did the HITT program as I was back home so quick...... LMAO.....
Onwards on upwards... only another 14lbs or so to shed......
Looking forward to Innnerleithen at the end of the month... (least I know my DH gear will fit this time ;-) )

That's the 19 week fitness program finished ....... I am off to Marmaris tomorrow for 16 days.......
first week: 19/01/15 I weighed in at 14st (196lbs- 89.09kg) BMI was: 31.6 (used as a very rough guide only) Last Week: 31/05/15 I weighed in at 12st 7lbs (175lbs-80kg)BMI is : 28.2
I have shed 21lbs or 9.09kg, sheer hard work and determination to succeed, plus I never starved myself of food....
My waist has gone from a 37"+ down to a 32"+
gonna put most of it back on over the next two weeks.....
