Sounds a great ride. Not sure I can get that far north inbetween dropping my son off for DOE, daughter at dancing followed by picking son up to take to football followed by collecting daughter to go to a party, oh crap I'll be lucky to cycle round the block tomorrow.

That ride was probably the most FUN ...I have ever had on a mountain bike ! The forest was muddy ..with mud on top of mud ..then as we climbed higher on the forest roads where the sun hadn't touched there was snow ..and where there wasn't snow there was sheet ice some of it thin and crunchy and most of it hard packed and thick and very slippy. The open moorland of the Carriers Way which has a lot of sunken bridleway was just sheet ice ..loads of twitchy bum moments and plenty of "offs " to share around all of us ( I had 3 in the first 20 mins ) In all it was 6.5 hours of biking ..which only ended because we were chasing the sunset . ..but although very cold with a stiff breeze..the sky was blue and sunny Thanks to Colin BM , Jaco & Graham ... A special mention also for Barkin Mad ..who must have found an extra large set of testicles near the end ...having said that he was going to be back marker on a very rutted downhill section ..and would be taking his time ..came flying past the three of us at warp speed ..I think we all uttered " what the fcuk " at the same time ..just totally unexpected ..but brilliant !! Could be some pics to follow ..but tomorrow. ..I'm cream crackered ...

Looks a good adventure.. Bet it's superb when the sun shining! The area is so vast that this is only a fraction of what is on offer ..brilliant in the summer ..but no more entertaining than it was yesterday..the pics don't do it justice ..as always if you have the time or inclination to head this way there will be no shortage of folks to show you around ..

I'm up there fairly regular but it's always work That leaves me no time to explore the riding.. I will try my best to join you at some point this year though!

as you say hodgy, a real mix of conditions............I hate ice! I must admit that there were quite a few times when I was bricking myself ..where the thin crunchy stuff ( is there a better sound ) gave way to solid glass sheet ..where you inwardly suck yourself in and try to make yourself as light as a feather ..in the vain hope that you can stay upright ! We all had a few motocross stylee moments and a few offs but thankfully no serious injury ..in the main it just added to the excitement !
