iv seen this in the mags often enough but never had to use it, until last night. ready for riding home from work and my back tyre totally flat. turned out to be a 3" rip in the sidewall. so a replacement inner tube, a long thick rubber patch on the inside of the tyre and a wrap around of ducting tape to protect from the outside.......it got me home ok.

You carry tape when you're out on the bike?

You carry tape when you're out on the bike? No it was in my work locker. But it'd be handy to carry an almost empty roll of it as long as you'v got a couple of foot of it. Riders spmetimes wrap some around their pump for emergency
