well i got some spds yesterday fitted them today. and went for a bimble was ok but no cofidence yet. so this weekend will do some kms to build up the reactions for uncliping quickly, any tips? as next weekend i have a 50km ride xc, and want to do better than last time so going clipless may help on long climbs. last time i was in middle finishing and starting but want to do better as loads of old french gits passed me on the climbs, all with spds and hardhails,

Use them properly! No good having SPD's and only pushing down on the pedals, pull up too!
Start with tension at the least and practice, whilst leaning up a wall, unclipping!
Gradually build up the tension so you don't unintentionally unclip when pulling up..
If you crash, don't worry, you'll come away from the bike.
Unclip in plenty of time before you intend to come to a stop.

Tips ? Try slow technical climbs ..and un clipping part way up ..that will give you an idea as to how long it takes to do it " under pressure " Slight change may be needed in your pedalling action ..to get the best out of them ...instead of just pushing down ..pull up too ...that's where you get the "extra" from Good luck !
