A great little ride this contouring around the last major hills in the Cheviots before you get to the coast ..this is the" local lad's " version of the ride ( Colin BM ) ..I use the word "lad " slightly tongue in cheek ! As things stand he has us starting at South Charlton ...just off the A1 North of Alnwick for a 10 .00 am kick off ...but this could be subject to change ( not sure why ? ) and this being the case I will notify in time .. Our usual crowd has been canvassed ..this is for anyone else who may be interested ...if so please post below
Stands back and waits for the rush .....lol

I've just made plans to take the nipper to Alston to go sledging (unless it all melts in the meantime)...

Andy ..not much chance of that with -c temps ..so the sledging trip looks good ...unless it's an organised thing then you wouldn't need to travel that far ...Consett to Stanhope road gets you into the snow...
Jay..sorry about that...one day ! We have had another snowfall overnight which ( although we had already moved the date to 11.2.15) put the final nail in the coffin for our scouting / snagging tour of the North Tyne Valley today ...seems like we are never going to get to do this ! Hopefully this wont affect the ride at the weekend ...

Slight fly in the ointment ..bearings gone in rear hub but a quick call to my main man Ian ..and all is well ..he has them in stock ( Hope pro II ) ..and the hub will be stripped / bearings replaced and ready to roll by tomorrow ! That's why you should love your local bike shop... Cheers Ian X!

The Lurgy ..claimed two of our number from coming..and having played wet nurse to my son all week who must have the record for the longest coughing fit known to man I managed not to succumb to his evilness until last night when my nose started dripping and my throat started to tickle ..but needing a break from the evil one ..no way was I not turning up! Didn't seem to bother me while riding but now that I am at home I have the worst case of man flu ever known to ..erm ..man. It also turned out that the Italian Stallion had to get back early ..as it was his wife's birthday and a table was booked ..and Barkin Mad our mad Scotsman ..had to be back to get his frock on for the " Hunt Ball" ..and find a bow tie from somewhere( I forget what you call those skirts you wear north of the border ) ...so 3.5 hours was all we had and didn't actually get onto Bewick Moor itself ..but took in Colin's local knowledge and visited loads of stuff I had never seen before ..so still a good day out ...a couple of pics Paul and Colin with the snow covered Cheviot Hills in the distance ... Near to the start Heading back The last hill ..before a great drop Edit: forgot to add ..many thanks to Colin for showing us these trails which will have to be revisited in the summer months when it's dry and dusty ...

Good pics Neil, it looks like a really cracking route that I'm happy to have added to the 'unfinished business' list.. Condolences on the manflu end result tho', mine is a bit better today, but not a lot... It's another hot toddy and duvet day, not risking a relapse by going out for even a quick local bimble, despite the blue skies it's still barely 2 degrees here. Hope to be fitter for the TVMTB AGM tomorrow and the Wednesday NTyne tour.
