Today's Local Ride ( Bellingham) with pics

Having had our " scouting trip" ride postponed again until next week ..I still was in the mindset that I was going to be riding today .
We had about an inch of snow last night ..but it was the " right" kind of snow ...the powdery grippy stuff ..so I just knew that with the ground being rock hard there was the potential for some great riding and I had to get out there!
Normally I can start this ride from my door ..but only having a two and a half hour window I wanted to get to the meaty stuff quickly and without having to include any Tarmac and a bitch of a road climb ..so drove to the edge of the forest.
I fancied doing a bit of moorland riding too ..but knew on this occasion I didn't have time to link it up ..so did a quick there and back over the fantastically named Shitlington Common..the riding was superb hard frozen ground with the snow being as grippy as I thought it would be..
The rest of the ride in the forest on bridleway and little used doubletrack which is more like 2x singletrack was great fun ..with varying depth of snow ..but all rideable !
The tracks I was on in the pics to follow will all form part of the tour of the upper North Tyne ..which will go to print and eventually be sent to the bike mags ..it's 31miles of natural goodyness! ...
