I just live hand to mouth and barely survive, but have all the free time in the world to bike and do what "I" want. It's a balance of what works for you. Couldn't go back to the rat race now. I'm happy. And that, my friend, is the main thing!

I'm going the other way. I had loads of free time, but I keep taking more and more on at work and looking to go into teaching. That would rule out pretty much all of my riding time during the week unless I start commuting and weekend opportunities would be few and far between.

Yeah, but you'll get about 16 weeks a year off I work less than 6 months each year

Yeah, but you'll get about 16 weeks a year off I was waiting for someone to say that! If only it were true, my Mrs is a teacher and time off is just time out of the building, not time off work!

Mine looks like its going even more the other way, just been told that office staff will have to go on shifts so that means a week of finishing at 2 and having time for a few afternoon/evening rides and then a week of not starting till 2 and having Friday off, easily get at least one ride in a the week now to add to my weekends. Best bit is the shift allowance means around 17% pay rise
Everyone else is moaning because they are lazy fuckers, I have large smirk forming as I will be getting paid more and be able to ride more, might treat myself to a new road bike to celebrate so I can get out even more
