Just booked a skills course with Pro Ride Guides at Hamsterley on the 20th March. I've had absolutely no motivation to get out on the bike lately, in fact I haven't even thrown my leg over a bike since before new year so I'm hoping this will spur me on a bit and move my riding up a notch Will report back once I've done it prorideguides.com/pages/home

I reckon you're almost guaranteed motivation off the back of a skills course. Me and my mate were riding the same trails and jumps at our local improvised/illegal bike park and quite frankly getting a little bit bored. However one day we met these young lads (probably about 15) who were absolutely smashing the jumps, pulling tricks etc, and that was really inspiring and renewed our appetite! It's amazing how watching someone ride brilliantly can light a spark. Enjoy mate! looking forward to the ride report

Will definitely report back lads. Cubist, you're probably right in what you're saying and the fact that it's at Hamsterley (which I could probably ride with my eyes shut) is pretty appealing as hopefully it'll make me look at it in a completely different light

definitely! you'll be at an advantage with a place you know really well as you won't hold back like you might on a track you don't know so well

I'm doing the Flow course Paul. I was going to do a 1-1 session but it was going to be 240 quid which I'd rather spend on the DH build. Think it's a max of 6 on the course so it should still be pretty good

I was with Joe at Stainburn, he's sh!t hot on a bike and knows how to translate it out on the trails so it's easy to pick up what he's saying and after that it sticks in your head. I didn't think I id taken it in after the course but it soon hits you that your riding is definitely different
You'll love it mate

Did the course yesterday and I am well pleased with what I've came away with. Joe was brilliant and made it really easy to understand where you were going wrong. He really made you think about your body position on the bike and how it effects everything you do. Prior to the course I was thinking about what the bike was doing and trying to wrestle the bike to where I wanted it to go whereas at the end of the course I was only consciously thinking about my body position and not even considering the bike. I know it's a bit of a cliche but it really was a revelation, just looking forward to getting out there and practicing some more
