Hey guys, looking to get a roof mount rack for the new car. Does anyone here use a Thule Freeride 532? Looking at getting some Aero bars and the 532, or its the square bars and the 591. Any advice/feedback would be great

I use some 591's .. Feel a little insecure when you first use them, or i did anyway ! BUT never had an issue and have performed faultlessly !

I use 2 x 591 and 1 x 561 .... never had any problems with them.. and I can't see the point of buying aero bars and then stick a ruddy great big non aerodynamic MTB on to it......LOL
for quickness I would say go for the thule 591 (just ensure that all your steeds will fit the clamp arm)

Square bars & 591's. Cable tie the crank arm to the carrier arm & happy days.

Aero bars and 591's for me. I don't think you can get a better bike carrier than the 591's

God knows what me bars are but I do have the 591.. I'll be buying another soon too!
Scared the crap out of me the first few times I used, didn't go above 30mph and crawled around corners, I just drive normally now!

Haha yea point of the aero bars are that they will probably just stay on the car as will look nicer and blend with the rails (Mini Countryman)
Right so everyone has the 591's, good to know they work then haha!

Aero bars still make a hell of a lot of noise ...sometimes I think that I'm receiving radio signals from space ..and they will still affect your mpg The only time I use mine are for mates bikes and I whip the bars and Thule off as soon as I can . My bike goes inside the car when I'm on my own ..don't want to be followed home ..and the bike lifted a few days later ....

Other reason for aero bars is the local car parts place have ten but no squares... And doesn't have the 591 but does have the other...
Thanks for the advice guys!

Well I got all my stuff picked up on saturday and started work on fitting it all> Good fun and only took about an hour, obviously thats putting everything together and then fitting. Only issue i came across was with the ferried itself, before fitting to the car etc try fitting your bike to it first... i didn't and had a right scare, the arm that comes up to hold your down tube didn't reach my bike! Lucky my firms reduce from 160mm to 115mm thats my only saviour, so bear that in mind if any one is buying this system. here is how it looks, feels sturdy and fingers crossed it doest fail!!!

It won't fail mate..
There's a video on YouTube that shows what a beating they can take, I'll put a link up later when I'm on my laptop.
Also, don't rely on the lock on the carrier to secure your bike because it's next to useless.

Thanks guys, well chuffed with it, means no mud inside the new car and no having to take baby seats out haha.
Yea Hodgy, hopefully get the bike down to Harris a few times this summer for some natural trails down there!
Yea the lock for the bike to carrier seems pointless as its an open clamp so just a good pull and its off...

Here you go. It's in no way a scientific test but it makes a point
