Started getting a noise from the BB when I am pedalling hard only. I have a 2012 Cube LTD and no technical knowledge whatsoever.
is this a lubrication issue and something I can sort out myself?
Cheers.

What kind of noise ?, I had a noise too, a loud squeak with every pedal stroke, which i thought was the bb, so i checked it and sure enough one side was grumbly so i replaced it, put it back together,.... still had the loud squeak haha, turned out to be the one of the pedals, i took the pedals apart re-greased them and the squeak has gone, mind you i'll probs have to rebuild them too, so far in the past week ive replaced the brake pads, rear hub bearings, the BB, rear mech jockey wheels, and i'll have to service the pedals...oh and a fork service too, our winter weather really does take its toll on all those little parts hidden inside eh, sometimes its a process of elimination, replace the cheapest option first If it is the BB then it's best just to renew it as their sealed bearings so not really worth the effort to try and save them,

Thanks Chopper. You could be right about the pedals as I wasn't entirely sure where the noise was coming from and it's only on the drivetrain side pedal stroke.

howey, try removing the chain to to completely disconnect the drive train from the cranks. as chopper has said sound can travel through the components and make it hard to locate the exact problem. once you've removed the chain turn the cranks without turning the pedals, it should be nice and smooth and quiet.as a double check yu can use a long screwdriver like a stethoscope.rest the driver end on the BB where the bearings are and press your ear firmly on the end of the handle while turning the cranks.the transmition of sound now is usefull cos any grumbling or knocking in the bearings will travel up the screwdriver and into your ear-oyle. if it sounds good then the problem is somewhere else like the pedals or free hub or summat.
