Let us know how you get on. Could be tempted by the £995 on on c2w later in the year.

Just generally monging about on tinterweb I think - tbh can't remember!
I know some have them on singletrack and love them, so I did some digging on them, phoned up Dave Cutts (one of the 3 co founders) and had a chat. I love the look and spec (obviously, else I wouldn't be buying one) of the bike but I also love their attitude and philosophy to the bikes they make - I was heading towards an On One carbon 456 but I just wasn't 'feeling' it at all, that set alarm bells going off. I was determined to buy British but couldn't afford a Stanton or Cotic and wasn't feeling the Orange HT's either.
The Bird I am loving the idea of. Looks perfect for me. Unfortunately the test ride looks out of the window as it's a bloody long way to Hampshire and back. However Dave (they are all MTBers themselves) assures me the medium is perfect for me (he is the same height, roughly same body shape etc).
So it's just pick the spec I want and away we go - lead times are short too. It's going to be the Zero.2, set up 1x10 with a 32t cog up front, X-fusion 140mm Sweep forks. Belting finishing kit and all that for £1,200. I am proper excited. Candy Blue it is too. Lifetime transferrable warranty on the frame too.

I don't like the frame but you can't argue with the spec and price!
Hopefully, their attitude and philosophy doesn't wear off once you've bought what they're selling!
Surprised that you weren't feeling the 456 as that's the only bike you spoke about for ages.
Is all this through C2W?

Yes mate - I can't put my finger on why I wasn't really excited about having a 456, I love your bike, but then, yours ain't a standard 456 is it?. Perhaps if I'm totally honest with myself it's because of the sheep thing, whatever, it doesn't matter cos if you are spending a grand plus on a bike then you need to be excited about it. Talking to them on the phone they do sound genuine blokes, I get the frame thing too as you ain't the only one that ain't keen. I really like the look. Yes C2W, but I'm adding extra on to the grand to get the spec I want. Like On One there is a 10% charge for the C2W so all in all it's costing £1,300 (though after tax breaks I'll actually pay about £800 of the grand), but at that I'm getting a bike set up exactly how I want it. Can't bleeding wait. I'll soon know if I've cocked up though - I'm not driving to feckin Hampshire for a test ride so I'll have to risk it! Unless you fancy a day out at Swinley!

I've had a good look around their website and, you're right, they seem proper genuine MTB'ers with a passion for making proper MTB's.
I guess with the warranty, you can't really go wrong. Like you say, the fact you're excited about buying one is a bloody good sign.

I love the spec and value of Bird bikes, I just find their frames look cheap. I think a matt paint job would look awesome on them. Definitely yellow though.

How does the extra over the £1k c2w limit work? And also with the admin fee as that't take the Zero3 over £1k.
Sorry for the daft q's but tempted with the savings on c2w (worked it out to only cost me about £670).

We need to talk about this - when you out next? I'm thinking you on a large zero, me on a medium and swapping halfway around the Bird loop. Just to see what's best.

Possibly Sunday and Monday. I'm on nights tonight and Sunday, but have got 9 days off after that. So give us a text or summat if you are out after Monday and in the 9 days after that. Got a lot to talk about and I need to see your 456 again.
