Morning everyone.
I'm Dan and I'm from Eastbourne.
I found this looking for an old forum of the same name. I've been out out serious riding for years after nearly destroying my elbow in an crash 8 years ago.
As I have stupidly agreed to do the downs in a day in June and my boy has just got into bikes I thought I'd join up.

No Ergaz it's not.
I'm raising funds to kit out my sons rugby team there's 3 of us, 2 who are just going back to it and an ultra fit nutter who has decided to do it on a singlespeed . It's going to be a beast and I need to seriously get some miles of climbing in as were doing it in june. I know the eastbourne end of the SDW really well and the last 3 climbs are a horrible way to end 100miles. I used to call myself an "uphiller" as if you ride down here that's what you spend most of your time doing.
I lost the last 6 years doing martial arts to get the strenght and movement back in my arm. Now my boy is old enough and big enough to trail ride i'm looking forward to getting back into it again, I just needed a decent excuse. His shiny new merida has literally just been delivered. So it looks like a night training run is on tonight.

Welcome, I worked at The Grand in Eastbourne many many years ago. Nice part of the world except for the lack of mountains!

Hi Jimbo,
Mrs B used to work in the Chatsworth many years ago. Not many mountains but the straight up and over of the downs can be relentless. Itfords hill up to the top of firle beacon still haunts me it just gets in your head as every time you think you've crested it drop gradient and goes away again. Horrible hill, but I love it in a twisted way.
Feeling smug at the moment a £2:50 trip to Maplins and a soldering iron and I've fixed the switch on my lumicycle hids which I broke hitting a badger (hence the handle) It was fine, i wasn't. Suddenly the dark is not dark anymore.
Night ride tonight with the boy on his new bike. looking forward to this mountain biking lark again.
