I'm doing Whitehaven to Tynemouth later in the year with all the offroad bits thrown in (Whinlatter, Old coach road, Nenthead, might even squeeze Bolts law in) as it's something I've wanted to do for yonks.
So I'll be taking my 29er HT and need quick rolling on the tarmac but grippy on the offroad bits tyres. Any recommendations?
Currently thinking Kenda SB8s F&R but might change the rear to a Schwalbe Thunder Burt or possibly a semi slick of somekind (maybe the Marathon Mondial).

Hard to call ..not knowing what the weather will be like ..I know that Mr Bell would probably steer you towards the small block 8's ..if you weren't doing the off road sections a semi slick would have been the way to go ..but not sure with the off road thrown in

If I was staying on the road Neil I'd be going on the road bike

Very repetitive reply I know but I'd run Ground controls tubeless if it was me , really fast on the hard stuff but plenty of grip in the slop .

You won't want anything draggy mate Certainly don't hence my thinking of SB8s, etc. The majority of the route is on that hard black stuff. Plenty of time to decide yet and see what the weather's like. Cheers for the suggestions everyone.
