Got the new build transition bandit to the point I could sit on it last night and check out the shock. I'm not the heaviest but upon weighting the bike, the shock was initially sagging to around 40% and very squichy not needing much to bottom out, its only 130mm travel so ideally I would like to set at 20% and take it from there.
Its a Fox FLOAT RP23 with boost valve, kashima coating. No matter what pressure I tried to pump it to, getting around 225PSI which should be way to much for me at around 12stone it still sagged to the same level on all settings.
I took the shock apart without removing and try and fit a spacer, there was a small one fitted already, I removed and replaced with a larger one. This time the same problem but also whilst adding pressure there was an audible click and at the same point the pressure reading on the shock pump would drop like 6o to 80PSI. Again I cant get it any firmer.
I've seen a couple of youtube videos of bikes running the same shock and it does seem to sit into its sag more than I would normally want. The pro pedal doesn't firm it up significantly at face value just when sitting on the bike but supposed to come into effect when riding and improve the pedal bob.
Cant ride it to test at the moment due to waiting for a few other parts but I would like to get the shock sorted in the mean time or decide if it needs a more expert opinion or even a replacement. I checked out and could get a rockshox monarch with lock out or a monarch plus in the required size however the FOX is supposed to be a superior shock.
HELP!

Sounds like a duffer to me mate - I've got a Debonair and if it did that it would be sent straight back - especially if that is supposed to be a superior shock!!

As Moto said, sounds like a duff one to me. Contact who you bought it through and see if you can send back just the shock.

It came on a used frame guys bought from a forum, it does function but debatable how well so it may be a tricky one for a refund. The guy seemed genuine enough and had been riding it often until switching to a Covert, he reckons he had it serviced a couple of months ago and only ridden once since.
I've asked on another forum as well and it does sound like the fox shock does tend to sit into its travel a bit more than I would like and I'm used to having monarch with the lock out before on my shorter travel bike. The way around seems to be adding a spacer which isn't working for me at the moment or adding plenty of PSI. Ill try and sort it and if I cant rather than throw many at a 2 year old shock ill get a new monarch or monarch plus from Ze Germans for the sake of £150/220(plus).

You could ask the bloke for a receipt for the service? if that's been serviced then they have fecked it up and they may take it back and re-service it?
Other than that get a Debonair - I think it's a great shock, been superb for me up to now.

Sorted now, really stupid thing in the end, just had to tighten the shock pump to absolute maximum. Got it to 25% sag and feels good.
Next problem is that I had a brand new x9 rear derraliur, screwed the tension adjust in started to index the gears, I had some problems and found the tension adjust screw had gone at and angle and instead of pushing up against the small catch it just passed it and had sheared of some of the edge. So in effect I have no screw in there, to make it worse Im trying to run with a 42t expander sprocket.
Somehow I've managed to get the full spread of gears I'm just a bit concerned what the effect of having no tension screw in will be when riding the bike.
