Having missed out yesterday I needed an mtb "fix " today . I revisited some of the trails that I rode as my local route when I lived at Falstone ..which is in the shadow of the dam at Kielder ..these tracks and trails are rarely visited by other mountain bikers ..but lie just 5 mins away from the Lakeside Way ..the 27 mile multi user trail than circumnavigates the lake This first pic is taken from a now overgrown track which was fantastic prior to the " way " being built ..I really miss it Strictly speaking this is a walking trail ..but I have been riding this for years ..and see no reason to stop! It leads down to the Wave Chamber ..an art feature by the waterside ..it has been dumbed down in recent years by adding a fence ( severe drop to the side) ..but is still rocky & rooty ! The next three are of the wave chamber ..reflections of the waves on the water are by the use of mirrors in the roof transferred to the concrete floor Start of the legal stuff ! One of two marker stones within a few yards of each other ..this one had an N ..the other an R ..no clue as to why The southern end or the reservoir from the bridleway to Black Belling Head ..at 9 miles long and 2 miles at its widest ..there's a lot out of shot Natural bridleway ..miles of the stuff that hardly anyone uses..local knowledge obviously helps ! 'Twas good to get out ..and just what I needed ..

Cheers Colin ..I'm still not out this weekend as it's Alex's birthday on Sunday ..and we are probably going for his present on Saturday ...plus it's a track barrow day at Kielder ..which is where Graham , Dave & Jean are heading . This area you are exploring in Wauchope sounds alright ..I didn't think there was any decent riding there ...

The news is AM has postponed the track barrow day for another week, again. He's saying the 21st now... :-| So if you're out for this w/e anyway, what does anybody else fancy doing? Newcastleton, Cross Border, Wauchope..? All of them? haha!

That's a shame ...I will be riding on the 21st ..even if I'm out on my own . You should leave AM to do the same on the 21st ..he has obviously no regard for anyone else's arrangements ..just so long it doesn't impact on what he wants to do ...

Well how about plan b, Newcastleton, Neil could you manage it on Saturday morning? We'd be up for that, looks like west is better than east on Saturday regards weather, cold easterlys.

Thanks Dave... I don't think that would work..it would just be too rushed ..and the important thing is my lads birthday.. I have removed the offensive words from my post above..I was probably a little emotional ...lost a good 4 -legged friend today...gutted

Aw, Neil sorry to read about your loss, we've all been there and know how the emotions get wrung out good and proper even if all they have ever done is purr and poop. And sorry I didn't even get to read your offensive words, was it a Jeremy? ;-) If it was directed in the direction I assume, then I may have been similarly guilty in my email reply to the original mail.
Dave, Plan B always sounds good to me... a bit short perhaps? Could there be time for a preliminary recce of Wauchope after.. or before, it's about 13 miles up the road?
