I think keeping it as a fitness thing works best, sites called mtb-uk so finding a load of road bikes will be confusing.

There you go then, perhaps those of you with road bikes could ask Euan for a 'fitness' section? Must admit I didn't think a daft poll like this would get people hot under the collar, wish I hadn't bothered! Roadies are touchy buggers - ent they?

That would be ace especially to see roadies faces when you go out like that. Do it. This is the only thread where I've seen Ergaz lose it, never seen him angry before, must be the lycra restricting the blood flow to the sense of humour muscle? Whatever, I don't want to see Gaz angry again...scary man...just scary

I think we should have one just for all the insecure male mountain bikers.
I laugh at the lycra banter, because middle aged men in baggy shorts isn't ridiculous at all......

Hang on though Rossco ..are you saying that you would rather us oldies ride around in Lycra instead ..or do you have an alternative type of leg wear that you could suggest ? Please remember young fella that growing old comes to us all ..I'm not out there to win any fashion awards and don't give a flying one as to how I look ..as long as I am comfortable while I am riding ..job done !

To be fair, I think it's safe to say that 90% of mountain bikers look like dicks! I've not see one person that looks good in a helmet for a start!
I dress for comfort though so, don't give a shizzle, knaa whaa meeen?

As Gaz "the whippet" said I also ride a road bike but I've no strong opinions on whether or not we have a section on here.
Call me what you like as I assume it's in good humour, and it's better than being ignored. I've dished it out a bit and it's always intended to be in good humour anyway. IMO if we have a road section we should also have a big mudguard section.
This is a great forum so lets not get too worked up about it. I'm happy to let Euan decide.

I don't ride a road bike because I don't got balls with an adequate circumference but, don't seriously knock anybody who does (ride a road bike)!

I suppose my main point is that people in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks. Everyone seems to think that dressing in mountain biking clothes is "cool" and "hip" however most people look like tits.

Wouldn't disagree with that assesment ..but like I said before I'm all about " form " over " fashion " and if this is what mountain bike clothes designers have deemed we should wear ..then until they bring a grandad version out ..that's what I'm wearing and baggy shorts in my eyes are a lot more easy on the eye than a skinny knob in Lycra promoting his lunchbox ... the majority of whom are also middle aged ! It's never been about what roadies look like / are wearing that rubs me up the wrong way ..more to do with their complete and utter snobbishness off the bike in say a country tearoom where because you walk in covered in mud & shit they refuse to even acknowledge you ..and in many cases are outright hostile towards you ..and yes I have experienced this on more than one occasion myself Each to there own though ..I have just given up trying to make contact ...

But that's not just roadie ive had and see that of Mtb riders when people turn up on there cheap as chip 99 notes halfords spes bikès and people snigger and look down there nose .. I say hello to any one ive been ignored by both groups roadies when I'm on my road , and mtb riders when I'm on my mtb .. But then a lot of people wot ever they ride say hello and are quite surprised when I say hello .. Even to dog walkers jogger walkers .. Sarky looks at me gone out when we ride along and I'm like hello ..

I always say hello to walkers ..especially if I'm on an off-road footpath in England ..pays to keep them onside and I have noticed over the years a softening of attitude where once there was outright hostility . I don't think I have ever dissed anyone to their face over the type of bike they were riding ..although I have had concerns about some of the bikes I have seen in terms of wether the owner would return alive ! I'm a lot like yourself in so much as I try to get along with people I meet...and just expect the same in return ..

If I wanr to see stuff about MTB's I go here. If I wanted to read about roadies I'd go to a roadie forum. Do I think roadies are gay, yes, but then again I think MTBers are gay too, in fact I'd bum the lot of you. I prefer MTBers 'cos they're easier to catch and tend to be found in secluded woodland. Leave this forum as a MTB only home and let those interested in riding tarmac have their seperate forum to visit.
