As it's raining like a bugger (fecked if I'm out in this - fair do's the Peaks ride loons today) and for a bit of fun and leading on from Step's thread, would we all like to see a road bike section for the girls? Edit - if the 'ayes' have it, this poll in no way guarantees a roadie section, as Euan is the boss man and has final say

As it's key to fitness I would like to have one, be good to get some interval tips from people like Pete aka getonyourberm or whatever his forum name is as I assume most people who want to do well racing get some road training in

My interval tips are simple, go biking, have a 3 day interval, go biking again

No. Otherwise it wouldn't be a MTB forum. It would be a "Cycling" forum. Leave the gayers to it. How can you call anything or anyone gay? Your last two threads have been about clothes and what people wear and this is hands down the gayest photo ever posted on the forum

Really?! You've changed. How's the lycra fitting? Must've touched a raw nerve there I'll replicate the above photo with my roadie and you can tell me x x

Errr remember peeps - it's for 'a bit of fun' As I said, wouldn't bother me as I just wouldn't visit it, but it has surprised me how many on here do the road thanng for fitness so I was just curious, loike, also if it makes it a better forum for them - where's the harm? We can still point and laugh when they ain't looking

I wonder how the roadies would react to someone riding a road bike in full MTB gear?

I wonder how the roadies would react to someone riding a road bike in full MTB gear? I rinse people on my bike daily, favourite is Tuesday to Thursday when I work late I normally pass someone who works down the road. Me: filthy boardman roadie turned into single speed, baggy shorts, royal baggy DH waterproof coat, 661 Mtb helmet and chrome cursk spd's (look like normal converse) and a massive two shoulder rucksack Him: carbon specialized bike, full Castelli Lycra, roady helmet and oakleys, tiny little roadie style bag Always catch him, draft him for a few secs then power the creaky single speed past him, he used to always try and pass me back but never could, it's the best thing ever. Although I don't openly mock them as I've always had decent mountain bikes but can get rinsed by kids on hardtails

I almost got a couple of roadies the other week. I was about 20 foot behind them on my 456 coming upto a junction covered head to toe in mud.. They were spick n span, not a hair out of place, kit was almost shining.. My plan was to wait till we were through the junction and floor it.. They turned right, I turned left

I ride one to get the base miles in over winter and I've never used a road forum, anywhere and wouldn't here either.
Intervals, wise for Nelly. I don't have any set interval sessions, really. My interval sessions and gym workouts change every week due to having a periodised training plan from Pro Ride Guides for all my training.

Roadie hunting is great! Was out on my fixed gear the other day as my MTB is still broken Was just checking out if the local coastal path had been open when 3 Lycra wearing roadies flew past. Theres a pretty steep climb a little further up the road, so i jumped on the bike and got in pursuit! By the time id got to the base of the hill, they were half way up so i continued to power along. Not only did i manage to catch them but i also over took them and then pulled away. Gave one of them a little, smug smile as i went past, grinding my 52/18 gear ratio away! Was in full mtb kit too, with a backpack and flats I dont think there should be a Roadie section. How about a fitness area, where riders can talk about training, whether its on a road bike or MTB. Putting a road section on a MTB forum then makes it a Cycling forum, and we'll be invaded by them! I know i may sound hypocritical, as i own a Fixed Gear Retro Road Bike, however i dont wear lycra and im trying to sell it as i dont use it, so i will soon be road bike less !

Guys it's funny that we didn't have a vote for the video section but come to road bike section .. People start jumping up and down .. Lol Personnel I don't give a fuck if we have one or not .. I don't give a fuck if you think I'm gay ... If I ride a road bike .. My road bikes dirty I mite even give it a wash tomorrow ... But then again I mite not .. I ride bikes I enjoy riding bikes , i Havant got the time to ride my Mtb every day or every other day .. As I've said before and I think Andy will agree with me you can blip out on the road bike do a 20/30 mile loop keep ya legs spinning and only be out for an hour .. If you think that's gay .you need to get a life.. Wot I can say is it's helped me no end with my fitness which has helped me with my mtb'ing im loving both more .. If you saw me last year riding up the peaks I was tail end Charlie , today I wasnt .. That's on the climbing and descents.. Was a brill ride with the lads .. I'll never be the fastest person down hill but you no wot I have a big stupid grin on my face .. If I post about a road bike and it offenced you don't read the bloody post simples .. I tend not to read much about the down hill section , it's just not my thing , but I don't go on here say you lazy twats can't you ride a bike up hill.. No each to there own we are here to have fun Keep it the sunny side up guys wot every you ride

Gaz ..I don't hold anything against anyone on here who rides a road bike ..first and foremost you are all mountain bike riders and I get where you are coming from regarding riding to maintain fitness ... No the reason I would be against it ..someone has already alluded to ...that being that the site is going to get busier and better known and any future roadies who just happen across the site and see there is a section on here dedicated to them ...might just mention it to there roadie mates and before long we would be inundated with Lycra clad leg shaving woofters who have no interest in mountain biking whatsoever with the possibility of friction breaking out between the two factions ...if you think that won't happen look at the stick Gunner got on the other site !
Nah ..this was set up by Euan as a Mountain Bike Forum ..and long may it stay that way

Gaz keep up the road biking, it's an excellent way to get a quick ride in and build your stamina.
I was faced with the choice today of a couple of hours drive north east just to get away from the rain or had set my mind on around an hour to Clapham. At 10 o'clock it had stopped pissing it down but started to snow. So I thought why drive somewhere that's going to be nowhere near its best and have two or more hours sat in the car. Got the cx bike out and had a somewhat cold and wet but not overly muddy trip down the Liverpool leeds canal for a coffee. 3 hours later got home after 41 miles and took longer to defrost my feet than it did clean the bike.
Anything that motivates you to get out of the house and get fit is great!
However if we had a fitness thread we could talk about general health and fitness, gym, weights, road biking any other routines.
