Every morning I get up at 5.50am to walk the dog before work through the woods. While I think about life most my walk involves guessing tyre tracks and how I would ride each section if I was actually on my bike, sad I know. However, as each day passed this week the trails got drier and drier and yesterday I was dreaming of mainly dusty, dry, fast, easy riding tracks for the weekend. Now after 12 hours of rain and sleet it will a boggy, sh@tty mess and come home covered in cr@p!!!! Moan over and gutted

There's a time and place for sloppy fun mud, and 0550 is not the time for it.

Same here. was looking forward to some dryish wood riding tomorrow. Back to the gloop fest. Still, gave me a chance to try out my latest purchase on the commute to work this morning: A dry bag rucksack. Bargain for £22.50. I think I've found the perfect autumn/winter/spring (probably summer too) biking rucksack. 20L volume, space for a 2 litre bladder and it keeps your kit dry. What's not to like?

I think to be fair a lot of what they are riding is on a rocky rather than a grassy surface so although they will still get soaked and covered in shit ..the going should be good

Bunch of soft arse wenches! What's up with you? Winter mudfest riding is what makes you fit and awesome on the trail just as all the fat seasonal riders are coming out of hibernation and sweating away in the sun, you're blazing a trail and leaving them in a dust cloud
