Fried my brakes yesterday on a little peaks outing so i'm looking at upgrading at least discs and pads, anyone have any recommendations for decent discs and pads? I'm currently running XT-M785 brakes which i'm happy with, pads are superstar sintered, and discs are Avid shite. Couple of pics of the wrecked items... Cheers in advance

Have a look at SRAM Guides.. Great brakes and not badly priced!

Im using superstar kevlar with no issues at the moment lots of fast downhill braking you smell them sometimes but not done that to mine so far. Rotor wise just get what ever fits your bike. Just remember lightweight rotors as in the ones with sod all metal on them wont work half as well as normal ones.

Forgot to mention they are for my fatbike so they have a hell of a lot of rubber to stop, i'm thinking icetech discs as I've heard good things about them.

Pinched the 180mm Icetech off my dead wreck of a stumpy so the rears all covered for now.

I've sort of figured out over the last few months playing in the peaks on a fatty you need big brakes as it takes a hell of a lot of stopping power to slow big tyres haha

Makes sense now! We're having a ride in the peaks on the 8th if you fancy it!? What fatty do you have?

I'll be working mate sorry I've got an on one for now, I bought it as a winter hack because i killed my stumpy through winter, but i love it that much i don't think i'll bother rebuilding the stumpy and i'm now considering either a Sarma of Salsa beargrease and sticking with the fatbike. It's pretty much standard apart from XT brakes Icetech discs Ks dropper XT trail spd's Madison flux saddle

I do love the On One Fatty frame. Often think about buying one and getting a fancy paint job on it and building it up! I'm also tempted by a 9zero7 Whiteout frame or the carbon Beargrease!
Rose do a nice fat bike too at a great price but I think I'd like to build one myself! I've got two mates who have fat bikes and I've ridden them a fair bit. Just need to get my own now!

The on one seems to have a more aggressive feel to it over a conventional fatty, making it more of a play bike than a tourer, in the 3 months I've had it i've given it some shit, I've thrown it down every downhill in the peaks and took it round Gisburn for 2 laps and the thing just flies lol

I do love the look of the Salsa Beargrease - fantastic looking bike but I live in C2W boundaries only I think next year once this years C2W is paid off I'll be having a good look at whatever fatty On One are doing or anyone else for a grand for that matter. F/S do-it-all, long travel HT and a fatty strike me as the perfect stable, I'll sell off the S/S for the fatty.

In my stable I've got an old school Klein running singlespeed, a 5 inch travel carbon full suss stumpjumper, a 120mm travel alloy full suss stumpjumper, and my fatbike, I haven't touched any of the other bikes since i got my fatty, I absolutely grin from ear to ear when riding it, I got it on the 23rd December last year and have done over 600 miles and 45,000ft of hills on it, and i can honestly say it has rejuvenated my riding which i was seriously considering giving up last November. The fatty is just good clean simple no fuss riding.
