As the title says ..a little bit of graft ..but followed by a ride on some off -piste stuff ..linked up by a fair bit of fire road ... but worth it for the singletrack and not least the views on the way around . First though the small matter of moving some stone into place from where it has been dumped near Super Bowl to various spots on All Along The Watchtower ...most of the hard graft will be done by the forestry's new motorised track barrow which only Alex Mac can use ..volunteers not yet allowed ..so just a bit of shovelling as far as I can see ..all welcome to join ..meeting at the KTR hut near to The Bike Place hire centre time tbc ( around 10.00) Then down to Falstone afterwards to start the ride ....

Too much time spent at the beginning by our local F.C officer on an H&S sermon ..to experienced trail builders who have heard this multiple times before ( an hour in total ) ..meant that we only had an hour to do any graft ! The ride though was fantastic turned out to be a 20 miler and included a stop at Wainhope bothy ..which has to be one of the best maintained bothys in Northumberland ..we all said that a stayover one night in the summer would be a crackin way to spend an evening Thanks to Colin, Graham , Jean & Dave who was feeling it a bit after two late shifts at work ....sorry mate ! Lucky once again with the weather ..blue skies, sunshine & nil wind ... Wainhope Bothy Some Off -Piste KTR meets War Of The Worlds Great day !

Phenomenal ride lead by our Sciribe who has fantastic knowledge of hidden trails in the vastness that is Kielder Forest Just makes you think how lucky us lot are to be alive and able to do what we do - anybody up this way come and join us and we will definitely , but slowly, lead you astray! Thanks Hodgie for one of the best rides I have done in a long time!

Brilliant day mate and brilliant crew of course. I enjoyed all the climbing for the gravity fire road plummets that follow. No-one loves the soggy mossy stuff but thankfully not so much of that. The tunnel was very good, and will be fabulous as a night ride when we stay at the bothy, but the final bridleway descent is superb starting off as it does with perhaps the finest views over Kielder there can be (although there are really too many of these to choose from!) Totally knackerd, crashed out on sofa about 10pm, woke at 3am, to bed and slept till 10am. Feeling fine now Let's go back Jack and do it again (and more).

Where was this bloody tunnel? Tunnel -a thing that choo choo trains, canal boats and even cars go through Seriously tho how's about trying to link something like endomondo that we use to this site to let folks know where we have been - yes if know I had a strop about one of our rides but could easily be coped with using ' don't do without landowners permission etc'To clarify - my like in dotage is ultra fast downhill boggy , lumpy, rocky and slippy and slidey so loved the so called downhill mossy bits of this ride - can think of nothing better to die on than doing one one of these! Roll on more of the same! Again seriously tho could we open up the possibility of eg endomondo routes for all rides - don't know how we get the powers that be to consider this - gramish the intellectual please look into this

While not totally opposed to this ..do you really want to give away the Crown Jewels ? While I don't really have a problem with " followers " of anyone of you on Endomondo linking in to these routes ..I think that the sensitive areas of the ride -the mossy , boggy , slippy slidey downhill bits..which you enjoyed so much would soon become un-rideable if shown to the masses .. I wouldn't mind taking other folk around if they were interested..but I think if you were to ask lads from other regions ..they would also have " secret " trails ..which they wouldn't want to be widely known ..just in case they got wrecked ...

It was a tunnel of unthinned middle age trees, branches meeting low above our heads, diving into it as we did from the bright sunlight of the open fellside the blackness looks and feels just like a tunnel. I think it was before we got to the bothy but can't be sure, it started out quite level but eventually climbed quite steeply. It would be spooky and fabulous when lit by moving lights at night. I don't use Endomondo now but get my routes with a Cateye gps and put them on Cateye Atlas (where I opt out of public viewing, friends only). It can upload to Strava, but I don't use it. GPX files can be produced but not done that yet either. I'm with Hodgy on too much advertising could risk these quite delicate (in many ways) routes. But no problem at all with helping to guide valued visitors of known 'quality'... :-) It was only the few short soggy hike-a-bike climbs that I (and no-one else) do not enjoy, totally loved that excellent final wet 'down' tho', wet but not muddy. :-)

Actually that video was funny as fck ... Totally out of sync at the beginning ... Got it together in the middle ... But only the Japanese could think that the keyboard solo break near the end was being played on the guitar ..pmsl..out loud ! Then to top it all the group was finished and taking the applause .. But the music was still playing hahaha... hilarious Get the hash pipe out before watching ! Shake your maracas and beat your bongos baby !
