I saw these brakes on a guy Martin special a few months ago.
I have no need for them other than I think they are cool, are they worth the upgrade?

What, thear brakes? Don't get them. They're rubbish. Question is, do you feel your brakes need upgrading?

I`ve got them cos that`s what was fitted to my tranny bandit when I got.would I go and buy them if I was replacing shitty/faulty/broken brakes or building a bike? I doubt it very much.what brakes have you got at present? when I built my ragley I used these deore brakes.they`re far,far better than you`d expect them to be for the money and I even prefer the shorty levers to the multi adjustable hope techs. www.chainreactioncycles.com/shimano-deore-m615-disc-brake/rp-prod108802

It's when I slow down! I mostly end up in the sort. I've got avid elixr brakes, they work fine, I was just interested in the 4 pots and guy Martin raved about hope... Put two and two together and got six

Got the ones lowcogger linked can't fault them at all dam good brakes for the money you won't find anything as good had to chop the hoses on mine but once bled absolutely brilliant. Tip though leave the front a little softer so it's harder to lock, going down hill last thing you want is a front brake that's overly grubby.

The Deore (M615) are superb brakes for the price.

zees 4 pots just as good if not better and easy to bleed and shorten. also a fraction of the price mate. also slx on merlin for £90 a bargain to.

Had 'em on my old Mega and my 456 before that. Great brakes, didn't bleed them or anything in the few years I had them! I loved Hope brakes, great looking things that work really well if set-up correctly..
Having said all that, I've got Guides on my new Mega and they are superior to the Hope M4's.. For future bikes, I'll be fitting Guides rather than Hope brakes!

I love Hope stuff. It's always great quality and you get really good support if anything does go wrong. Never thought much of all the Shimano's I've used. They are cheap and get the job done but I've always found them overly grabby and hard to control. Also after a couple of years they start to get leaky and you cant repair them. I have Tech 3 X2 brakes at the moment and they are all that I need and have the best feel out of any brakes I've used. Would like to try the guides though and see what the fuss is about. They get great reviews and cost a lot less.

I hate the look of the Tech 3 lever and the X2's as a whole just don't do it for me.

I think the general consensus from this thread is to get what feels right for you then!
I adore my brakes and If anything happened to them or my bike I wouldn't hesitate at dropping £300 on a new set. Many would agree with me but I imagine just as many would disagree. See if you can test some out first on a mates bike etc and see how you get on with them before you drop any wedge on them.

I've got a 4pot on the front of the soul (and twin on the rear), they work , are well built and easy to work with , I like em but and here's the but , if you like progessive and lots of feel you'll like them , if you like super sharp you won't , the Avid rsl's on the Lava Dome have a much sharper feel to them and bite much quicker , down to personal feel in the end .

They are quite costly.
Guy is sponsored by Hope, so he will say they are the best..However, all the Hope stuff does get good reviews and they would probably be the brakes i would choose if i was building up a bike with no budget.
Nothing can beat technique tho, you'd still be falling off if you were riding a 10k Santa Cruz!

Yeah but the difference between having hope 4 pots and hope x2 brakes is MASSIVE. still cost the same pretty much.
