Sometimes you can drink too much and flush all the salt out of your system. Try add in a bit of salt to your water or get some isotonic tablets or similar.

Been using electrolyte tablets in water, potassium tablets (1 every day) I've looked on nhs site going to try some rub oil to try before a ride.

Sounds like you've not got enough slat. Have a bottle of Powerade in your bag for half way round.

I used to suffer terrible cramps in my quads and put it down to knee pads being cinched a bit too tight.

I'm taking in enough salt the trouble is my body isn't processing fast enough, I'm under a liver specialist cause I've gotva few small lumps on it he going to book me in for some test to try and sort it. Here's hoping it pissing me off now, cramp kicks in after about 2 -2half hours which i can ride through but buy the time i get home jump in a hot tub feed up then it kicks in it's like a dog biting both legs from ars to knee.

Sounds daft but milk after a ride, helps your muscles repair should take the sting out post ride

Have you tried doing some stretches before and after the ride?

I have experienced that ..most recently last December after returning home as a passenger from a Whinlatter ride ..no hint of a problem on the way back until I tried to get out of my mates van ..same thing ..both legs completely seized ...totally excruciating pain and it took me about 5 mins to walk less than 10 yds to my front door and a further 5 mins for the legs to un -seize ..it's not the first time that this has happened ..but it has previously just been in one leg. I use at least 2-21/2 NUUN electrolyte tabs in 2l of water ..and this helps a lot ..it's usually when I have a long drive home after a ride that I get problems ..hardly ever now during the ride itself I have heard that a milk drink does help to repair muscles after a ride ..as Step has mentioned ..and I also if out for the day carry a packet of ready salted crisps ...maybe the hot bath isn't doing you any favours as most elite athletes "recover" in an ice bath ..which is obviously the complete opposite of what you are doing ( although I do the same!) I'm interested to hear what tests to your liver reveal ..I have a " fatty " liver which may well be a result of my diabetes ...so I would be interested to know of any results you may have regarding this .. Hope you get sorted ...
