Ok so I did my first few downhill runs on my hardtail today. The first I was white knuckeling the whole way but after a few more runs got fairly comfortable. However I'm running a 29er with an 80mm stem and the steering felt fairly vague so my question is would this benefit from a shorter stem or wider bars or both??? Thanks all

I will probably end up getting a full sus when money permits, just wanted a hardtail to find my feet again. As for the fat bike, it needs flats

Shorter stem (50mm or less), widear bars (740mm or more) and you'll find going down hill much nicer. Your next limiting factor will be the travel, but ridden well then it shouldn't hold you back
