Route was park at Fairholmes car park at Ladybower then head up the resi and up and over Cutgate down towards langsett but turn right and do the descent to North America farm, then do a left and left again back over Cutgate, weather hadn't been to bad by then so when i got back to Ladybower after 3hrs i decided to carry on and go up Whinstone Lee Tor and do Cuthroat bridge down to Ladybower Inn, cross the bridge and dam then nip round Aston and up Hope Brink to Hope Cross, I was then planning on doing Potato alley, Rowlee farm, and Lockerbrook, but as i climbed Hope Brink the wind coming around Lose hill over Edale valley was so bad i couldn't pedal in it, so i pushed up to the top then lobbed my bike over the wall into the wood, then rode along the side of the wood until i reached the beast, I went down the beast crossed the snake rd then climbed the Hagg fm descent (not good) then i rode over to Lockerbrook to do the descent then back along the resi to the car park. Some pics for you, more on my Instagram account, username mtb_si feel free to have a looksy Riding back up Cutgate this was one of the rock paths which was about 6 inch deep in running water This was about 18 inch deep in the middle but luckily quite hardpacked The p*** take of a rainbow taken looking back down cranberry clough after i'd climbed up it Start of the climb up the switchbacks at Cranberry clough Awesome day and i'd do it again tomorrow, 34 miles, 4000ft of ascent, 7hrs ride, love it Route linky app.strava.com/activities/275984318

I don't think I've ever done anything that lasted 7 hours!
Sounds a brilliant ride though. I too can't wait to go there next week.

Mind you, I'd probably be doing the same if the Peaks was my local ride.
As it is, I've got Cannock Chase so, it's not all bad.

You're a brave man taking on Hope Brink in that weather. It's one of the windiest places I know on a good day, so I can imagine it being nigh on impossible the other day

Peaks are a long day for me as it's around 40-50 mile away depending on where i start, Ladybower was an hour and a quarter drive and 45 miles each way, worth the effort though, although i don't think so at 5am on a Sunday morning when the alarm goes off haha

Seems the Peaks are closer to me than they are to you lol. I should buy a good old fashioned map and get up there. If I can get up for work at 4.30, I'm sure I can get up at 7 to go riding.

I started off with the Jon Barton book "dark peak trails" then just built on his routes, it really is a good book with detailed maps and turn by turn instructions, i just photocopy the route then go ride it a couple of times with the map till i don't need it anymore, i'm starting to get to know my way around the area now because of the book so I've just bought an OS map to find the off piste stuff. Part of the fun for me is the adventures off riding unknown (to me) trails and getting lost haha
