Nothing rad or gnarr here, and I don't expect anyone is about to join us, but posting this anyway for publicity and information value... The Tyne Valley MTB club are riding the full 120 mile route from Berwick on Tweed to Hexham starting Friday 3rd ending Sunday 5th. Friday and Saturday are full 50 mile days, staying Friday night in B&B near Alwinton, then to Rothbury and Bellingham on Saturday. Which, as it is on the doorstep for most of us, we'll be shuttling back to kip down in our own beds, then back to finish off the last few miles from Bellingham to Hexham on Sunday. Should be fun! Of course if anyone is around or about any of these areas with a bike and free time to spare, we'd happily welcome you aboard the posse, for any or all of it. Full write up of Ritchie Rothwell's 1 day version of the Sandstone Way in this months MBR. Full route, maps history and info:- www.sandstoneway.co.uk/

Glad you all got back safely - sure the schrum schhrum of the police helicopter helped you on your way! Been there done that so I can have a go! Suggest we do it in summer with time for pub stops etc built in - or maybe pub stops with a bit of mtbing to justify them Even better another BBQ with Gramish golden nectar in the Cheviots as the highlight! Off to Southern Africa to do four legged riding, crap suspension , and bloody buffalos and lions are a pain! See you all soon

Yes it did. All bloody day. And then it stopped, but by then it was dark, and the full moon came out from behind the clouds to take the piss a bit more. Wasn't supposed to be a night ride at all, so only three out of eight had lights. That was fun!! (what IS the sarcasm smiley..?) I felt my character being built by the metre. Until 200 metres from our bothy for Friday night when my back tyre exploded after catching the sidewall on an un-illuminated razor sharp rock. Took a long time to create a semi-decent repair this morning but it meant I came back solo today by the quick and gentle route on tarmac instead of attempting another 50 miles of mostly off-road and fire road. Nice and dry as I gently tootled on back roads and unclassified roads with plenty of time to enjoy some fabulous views over magnificent north Northumbian scenery. Alone. It was blissful. I want some slicks for my hardtail now! As well as a replacement for my destroyed Racing Ralph (not sorry to see that go, I'll have a Maxxis now thank you v m). But I won't blame you Dave. Not in the slightest. But the jinx was with us. It just was not meant to be a smooth ride from the off. One delay after another. And a few bad choices, but who hasn't made any of them..! Anyway, that's about all I can tell you for now. Might get some pics later that were taken by others. Not photogenic weather so not much worth anticipating, don't hold your breath. It's an epic and worthy three day ride for mere mortals, superheroes.. go for it in two, or one if you're mental!
