Anybody entering this. Supposed to be a good event, fairly reasonable cost and like the ard rock enduro you get to ride routes across private land normally off limits. im going to wait until nearer the time before signing up. cvmbc.co.uk

Yup, doing it on my fatty Did it last year and it was a cracking day, great route too, first 3-4 mile though is some serious climbing designed to split the pack up. Top of the first climb there's a full blown bag piper playing away as you pass, then in the quarry there's an Elvis impersonator banging out song's complete with amp and microphone

I watched the video that showed Elvis and the Piper, there seems to be a good atmosphere around the event. The only thing that concerned me was that I'm sure I spotted a few cx bikes here and there.
Is it a pretty easy going route or are they some good fun sections, I did read that they had more off road this year than before after striking up more agreements with landowners to cross their land.

Yeah it's full of cx's, 29er,s and lycra loony's just let them go first and get out of the way then you can just enjoy the ride, there's plenty of climbing around 4000ft if i remember rightly, and over the 30 miles i would say 10 are road miles, well worth doing though, I placed 185th out of 251 entrants which i didn't think was to bad because at the 20 mile point i was in last place due to the lads i was with having mechanicals, i dropped them at 20 miles though and got the red mist and went for it

not done this one but did the holme valley one, year before last. its run by the same scout group.dont know if any of it covers some of the same route. there was a cobbled climb that seamt like a 1:1 and a tough rocky climb near to the last descent to the finish. yeah there were a few cx bikes on that one also.

This looks alright, might see if I can get the BIL to do it with me, as it's only 20mins from where I live.
I'm guessing it starts and finishes in the same place?

Only 29 miles I thought it was a rad over 40? Maybe Its shown in kilometres but I assumed it was miles. Relatively a lot of climbing though for the distance. I like your style with the fatty, I can tell you don't give a flying shit about what others might think with their carbon cx and hard tailspin as long as you enjoy yourself. ps I would be one of those opting for the carbon hard tail but I still doff my cap to you.

Short course was 20 miles, long course was 30 miles, It is quite tough with some bitching climbs but well worth it and the atmosphere is great. The thing with the Fatty is it showed me how a lot of my so called friends were just cocks, when i bought it i took weeks and weeks of grief for going from a carbon stumpy to a fatbike, so much infact i decided to go out and prove to them how good fatty's can be, 4 month's down the line 600+ miles and nearly 45,000ft of ascent and not a squeak out of them now, my riding has got so much better now too, I'm riding further and faster than i did on the stumpy (albeit not downhill) I even got a kom in the peaks, a f*****g kom on a fatbike haha Now i just get up early on a Sunday pack my shit in the car and go ride a full day in the peaks taking loads of pictures of where i've been, then spam fbook with them just to shut them up haha
