I went up and down rivington pike a few times this morning trying to find my climbing legs ready for the snowdon forum ride which I'm aiming to join.
After an interesting drop down San Marino I climbed back up to where I had parked my car to find the road had been blocked for the Chorley Grand Prix (elite roadie race) the likes of sky had teams in it so it was well run and marshals and police every where. I had to wait until the peloton had passed before I could leave the car park and head home.
so I took the chance to catch the peleton on my phone. Not the best camera work I know but Hopefully it gives the sense of speed, because these guys were flying.

Oh a few pics from the ride, just to bring it back to mountain biking. Rivi pike view over rivington. I took a wrong turn and accidentally went down a cheeky bit, it was good fun but a bit slippy in the mud and on the broken steps.

I want to get over to rivi sometime but I`d no idea it was on the side of such a steep hillside.

Unlucky John, I got out from barn before they closed the road. Sat trying to clear the crap off my chest all afternoon those couple of small climbs really bollocksed me up. Fair play getting back up and over San Marino though after going up and down the pike so often.

You sounded in a really bad way, you don't need telling probably, but not a wise move today. It took two clear weeks to get over my last bout. I hope you feel better soon.
I enjoyed the San Marino except the rutted parts are now getting way too deep, much higher than crank height, and there seems to be far more than I can remember, I made a few bad choices and had to stop and move onto a better option once or twice and got held up by a couple of lads and walkers with their dogs wandering about in front of he. I enjoyed the drops a lot more than my first time down there though and at least my shock was working this time.
It was funny really as through the short link route at the end of San Marino there was a real bog that I tried to ride through but my wheel got sucked in and I fell to the side and went past the knees in some really stinky gloopy mud and the bike and myself was caked in it. As I started to climb up from the pub the stewards let me through to get up to my car but asked me to keep well to one side as I climbed and to try and get a wiggle on.
The road was lined with spectators and camera men as I spun up looking like the swamp thing. I didn't mind too much waiting an half hour as it was pretty cool to watch them coming through.
Hope to catch you soon.
