Did another fantastic loop round the peaks yesterday, due to the weather being fantastic i thought sod it just ride until i can't ride no more, set off from Fairholmes visitor centre at 8.15am, I had a basic route in mind but with the intention to add to it as necessary, route was as follows..
Up Whinstone Lee Tor, down the cheeky trail to Ladybower inn, over the bridge and back up the side of ladybower towards the visitor centre but then climbed Haggside, across the moor and down the Hagg farm descent, climb the beast to hope cross, do a left and head up hope brink up and over descend into Aston, cross the main road between Bamford and Hope, nip through Shatton and up and over Shatton moor past the mast, then start the descent but cut it short and go left and do Bradwell edge descent (awesome techy descent that one) nip through Bradwell round the back of the cement works then climb the pindale through the quarry all the way to the top, then left and up dirtlow rake, hang a right then descend cavedale into castleton, nip through the village and up the broken road to Mam Tor, climb round the back of Mam Tor and descend to Hollins Cross, instead of doing the usual Hollins Cross down to greenlands though i did the second one that drops you further down Edale road (much steeper techy descent) pop down the road for a mile or two then do a left up the bridleway towards jaggers and the bastard climb up towards hope cross then left along the trail to potato alley, descend potato alley, cross the road and do the switchbacks climb up rowlee farm to lockerbrook, descend the screaming mile at lockerbrook down to the road then pootle back down the resi to the vistor centre and my car, got back to the car at 3.45pm all in all absolute stonker of a day in gorgeous sunshine only downside was i fried my brakes coming down Hollins cross so i had very little brakeage for the rest of the ride, damn you Icetech!
Some pics....
The dam in overflow mode
Looking across ladybower from the top of Whinstone Lee Tor
In search of the cheeky trail but had to stop to photograph this view
Start of the singletrack off the top of Whinstone
Better view of the singletrack
The bridge
Couple of shots of the climb up the beast
Sat having brekkie inn the sun atop of Hope brink just before the descent into Aston
Ye olde mobile phone
View from the top of Shatton moor (mast) you can just make out ladybower in the distance
View from the top of Bradwell Edge looking over Hope valley the cement works and Mam Tor
Small pic of the techy descent down Bradwell Edge, it's to steep to take to many pics as you can't get back on the bike lol
No more pics around Mam Tor etc as i've photo'd then around a billion times, so just one last shot of my garmin ascent/descent before i upload it to strava and it steals my thunder
