Had the week off with the nippers and went to visit the folks back down south. Took the bikes along and managed to get a few night rides out on the trails I used to ride as a teenager/early 20 somethinger. There's nothing quite like a break of a few years and riding at night to spice up the trails you came to think off as a bit boring having moved up north to the mtb mecca of (almost) Northumberland. Was great, had a huge grin on my face the entire way round and even managed to set a 2015 KOM in the dark on one stretch (not bad for a 29er HT - see if you can beat it). Nearly shat myself a few nights previous doing pretty much the same ride coming round a corner and coming face to face with a mahoosive red deer with the biggest antlers I've ever seen. Fortunately he legged it. Couldn't believe how dry it was and got lulled into a false sense of security on the first ride and went through Robins Wood on the first night - big mistake! Now I remember why I only rode in there in the height of summer... Happy days, even managed to get the Mrs round Hicks Lodge with me hauling the kids round in their trailer - all good cardio workouts. www.strava.com/activities/281755314/overview

Good one Andy I don't go over much to robins woods as it normaly a bloody bog .. Seen a few big deers on nite rides round there .. Best one I was ripping down Repton shubs .. And there was a massive deer standing there I was like fk me he's a big bugger .. Sandy DH is a nice run down, and brick hill lane is a good one as well
