I've had enough of the fuckers now I took some time off from revising (exams around a month away) to get the from wheel sitting centrally (it was slightly to the left when looking at from above)... After pissing about with the axle for about half an hour, all i had succeeded in was making a mess and knocking a few bearings out. I decided to take all the bearings out as they were just getting gritty and the grease looked like it could be refreshed too. After cleaning them out, it was time to put back in. This is the most frustrating thing on a bike in my opinion. Just when you have seated one side of the hub and you try to do the other, the bearings all start falling out Multiple attempts with the same result ended with me launching the front wheel towards the ground and walking off in a strop! I then WASTED more time picking up the fucking little balls which had scattered within an area of about 10 meters and hidden under anything and everything. This was the final straw, so the bikes now back in the garage with no front wheel, and all ive done is made it worse and waste about 2 hours Anybody got any tips for when servicing their hubs with loose bearings and cup and cone axle. Ive done it many times before but its always taken wayyyy to long, and today just pissed me off even more! As you can probably tell, im not very patient! Now ive wasted more time writing this! Fucking bicycles, theyre a bitch sometimes

As gaz said, grease. I find this holds the bearings in place and stops them falling out when putting the axel in, if they keep falling out it sound like you may need more grease. I got myself a mini grease gun for this job and it works a treat, about a tenner on amazon (with the grease).
