You're not wrong ..he's lucky to be alive . I don't think the truck driver even knew that he had hit him !

Fk me that could of been a nasty one ...the truck driver was flying and they where not on a nice bit of road ... I see roadies riding down dual carriageways which they are allowed to do ... But to me it's bloody crazy as cars and trucks are doing motorway speeds ... There was a cyclist old boy alway rode a 3 wheeler .. Down the a38 think the old boy had set records in distance ridden etc .. I nearly hit him one day on the a38 I was traveling at 50 mph when a truck suddenly lswerved out and I was omg fk there he was riding down the dual carriageway on a bloody 3 wheel bike ... Fk nos how I missed him!!!!! Few weeks later a car hit him ... Killed him.. The old boy had been riding down the A38 for years He had been hit a few times on the A38 Why the fk did he always ride on the road when the other side there was a cycle lane ... Poor old bugger .. I try and stay off main roads if I can .. Ride safe guys Bit like riding down the A1 you just wouldn't do it

I wont do it ever, i liken it to swimming with great white sharks, you just have no idea when you'll get bitten but it will happen, guaranteed, the risks are too great, a car bumps you slightly when your driving, you get a dent, a car bumps you slightly when your biking you die, sorry but thats the way i see it ?

I was down London way today , and the amount of cyclist that dont look just pull out straight in front of you ... They just don't give a Fk .. Then when you do hit them its your fault .. I'm glad we have 24/7 recording around on our trucks ... With sensors on the near side front of the truck and audio warning that's tells the daft buggers that this big fucking truck is turning left ..... As they can't the indicators ...
When the silly buggers are still trying to ride up the inside of you ... Which is the blind spot for truck drivers ... Don't get me wrong a lot of driver in trucks are compete wankers .. And I'm not perfect .. We all make mistakes ..

Last time I was in London I was amazed at how the cyclists up there ride. It's crazy. I was cringing watching them fly around without a care I hate road riding. Especially with some of the drivers around here! So glad I've got my car now, I will no longer have to ride to the forest along roads and through the town I enjoyed my fixie for a short time, but it's too dangerous. At least on the MTB, the only way you'll get hurt is through your own fault. You don't have to worry about being hit by cars and shit, but instead worry about stacking it on them rocks!

Oh my days, apart from the other cyclists (who made sure their bikes were safe first) nobody stopped, what is the world coming to!!!! My old man got knocked off his bike going to work a few years back. He was riding down gospel end rd, a car coming the other way turned into a rd on my hubbys left, cutting straight in front of him, i still dont know if they didnt see him or just thought "oh it's only a bike", but the end result was my husband flying over the bonnet and breaking a hand. The person stopped and all, but it was the grief of him having to decorate our bathroom with a broken hand, nothing can compensate you for that!!!

Christ, wtf were they doing on a dual carriageway though? Complete madness in my opinion, I sometimes see cyclists on the A1 coming into work and I think to myself it's only a matter of time before they get wiped out

the guy who had the camera running made sure he stood is bike up properly and put his water bottle down on the ground before going to attend to his mate.i`d like to think that I`d have gone to his aid and left the bike where it was ffs. having said that when a mate went otb going down cavedale in the peaks I got a photo of him lying in heap, much to the horror of a passing lady rambler

Some guys ride down the Washington highway up here in nothing but work clothes and a high viz jacket no helmet, the amount of chaos when a slip road emerges is frightening. Fucking insane.

Just been down the road 10 miles no problem, half an hour on a canal towpath chased along by a few different dogs, 4 heated exchanges with said dog walkers and ignorant walkers and finally bitten by one dog on the leg after running along side for a while, at least the owner at least was apologetic. Even if it was the chestnut "it's the first time he's done that". Make it the last or get it on a lead.

Jeez he was lucky.
There are roads I ride on and roads I dont as a newbie roadie. I wouldnt ride on a dual carriageway. I also drive all over the North for work. I hate driving in York as its full of mental cyclists, no lights, no hi vis, no helemts, saw one guy riding with his hands in his pockets. On the plus side I also see a lot of roadies and MTBers riding over the Peak District and they are on the whole sensible.

Roadies don't get a lot of sympathy from me I'm afraid.
If you are soft enough to ride a bicycle on the public roads with the amount of chunts that are behind the wheel of a car, then I'm sorry, but you shouldn't be surprised at the consequences.

Sorry pal but don't agree with ya car drivers should take some responsibility for there actions and slow down.. Same as some one walking down the road .. You would not want them to be run over mate . Same as when I have to use the road for my Mtb as part of my routes not all of us have the peaks or Cannock on the door step ..

I know it sounds a bit harsh Gaz, but that's my view. If you drive regularly, as we both do then you know how many twats there are on the road. You lads that choose to go out there knowing this, are taking a calculated gamble, imo. How you think bright clothing and lights are going to protect you from a drugged up kid speeding in a 2 ton lump of metal is beyond me.
Sorry mate, but there it is. To me it's akin to swimming with sharks, smeared in tuna and thinking yellow flippers will save you.
No sympathy.

how you think bright clothing and lights are going to protect you from a drugged up kid *( try 53 yr old man)* edited by chopper) speeding in a 2 ton lump of metal is beyond me. This ^^^^ my bro in law had personal experience of and paid the ultimate price, see below from a forum he was a member of, yes it does happen, not just to "other people" but much closer to home too some people just love the freedom of riding straight from the doorstep and racking up the miles and losing themselves from the stresses and strains of life and fair enough i say, each to their own, but to me it IS a total gamble on the roads, the event that Motozulu described did happen to our John on a bright sat morning, excellent visibility but he was smashed from behind buy a guy that already had 5 strokes, was on strong medication and speeding, and shouldn't have been behind the wheel, while waiting for the trial he had another one and was deemed unfit to stand trial. He killed him through his own irresponsibility to the rules of the road and to human beings most of all, so there you have it, make up your own mind, i ain't gonna tell you what to do, we live in a fairly free society and it's your choice but is it worth the risk .........
