Being using high5 tablets, powder and gels lately. Now looking at buying some more but want to know your thoughts on these products and why you use one over the other. I may not of explained myself very well, this has nothing to do with the amounts of kangaroo piss ive drank tonight.

I've always used high 5 capsules in my bladder. I find them refreshing and hydrating. The extreme versions, always work well in longer rides. IMO.

Never used high 5 ..I'm a Torq man on both tabs & gels .. The tabs are sugar free and are electrolyte heavy and I've never cramped ON a ride since using them .. Gramish reckons after reading a recent article that the best recovery drink is milk ..just milk The gels do help ..but being diabetic I probably shouldn't take them ! I could give you a full list of things that are wrong with me medically .. but I tend not to dwell on them too much ..but view my mountain biking as something that keeps me alive ..as well as something that I love doing !

Milk is great as a recovery drink semi or full fat, skimmed is like water anyway.
I cant do anything high protein or high caffine because of my IBS. hydration wise I get along fine with some high5 powder a big 2Kg drum but im going to get some samples of others to see what they are like torq is on my list prefer the idea of more natural stuff that doesnt react so badly with my stomach.

So regardless of manufactory why choose a gel over tabs etc? Is it just personal choices? As for after the ride to help recovery I just fill my face with a nice juicy stake and a few beers lol

In the case of the Torq products ..the tabs are pure electrolytes ( salts ) which are used with water to re-hydrate and replace what you have lost ( through sweat) The gels are " sugar" rich and are meant to give an energy boost ...they seem to work ..although how much of that is psychological ..I'm not sure

I use high 5 zero in the hydration pack as they are sugar free , taste nice, replace salts and rehydrate. For energy boosts I just have a bag of sweets tbh. Never cramped up using the tabs

Personally I think most (some are worth it but are expensive) are a waste of money which could be used by eating foods the body is designed to eat, I did try them but found the "crash" was just not worth the "pick up" and they taste like shite.

Don't like the energy bars... But Torq gels with flavours like orange & banana, raspberry ripple, apple crumble, black cherry, rhubarb & custard ..are quite scrummy..but yes quite expensive .
