went out last weekend done 60 kms in the forest around charente, was great bit muddy in places ,on the ride i had a stone hit me in the shin and cut it, got home showered and all was well no real blood or skin damage , so i thought till tusday when i had a sore ankle left it ,then yesterday it swelled up from knee to foot so went to docs this mourning ,and she said its a bad infection, and to stay off it for a few days, as its in the muscle as well as the skin ,so strong antibiotics that give you the shits as well oh joy.

I often go a week or two without riding.
It's been a week since I was last out now.
Can't say it bothers me too much to be honest.

Richard..unless you have a masochistic streak there's other stuff out that won't have you crawling on the ceiling ..TCP ..that's fucking torture man ! I know that strictly speaking it's used on babies for nappy rash ..but Sudocrem has fantastic healing properties ..as long as you don't have to go anywhere once applied as it doesn't blend in too well . Ballistol home remedy ..if you can get your hands on some is also terrific for cuts & blisters ..unless you like swinging from the chandelier of course !

If I go for a week or longer without getting on the bike it does literally start to affect my mood ..I get very grumpy ! Any longer than a couple of weeks and what little fitness I've got starts to deteriorate !

Had a blood infection off some kind of insect bite off the Chase 2 years back - was that bad in the end I had a week off work, cos my blood was poisoned my face turned purple and green! I was like an extra from walking dead - felt like death too.
Always have an anti septic spray in the camelbak now, you can't be too careful. Years ago this sort of thing was a death certificate - thank Gawd for anti-biotics.

Kinda know what its like tried a ride last week, managed 2 miles before chucking up my guts had a nasty flu, this week managed about a hill threw up struggled on did 8 miles went home an died. If you still on the pills eat stuff to bind you up a bit itll help a bit trust me!
Always carry a first aid kit after coming across a trail runner last year he was not in a good way. small kit from sports direct some pain killers anti histamines small thing of bite cream an some more plasters all fits in the pack an is always a blessing.

Not wanting to brag but had last week off, got 4 rides in and only got a bit pissed off on the 4th ride cos I planned big ride but 2 pinch flats in first hour used up all my tubes and put paid to that, so cut it short after just 2hrs.
Anyway, get well soon, mate of mine had a cut shin playing rugby, got infected, poisoned blood and all that, ended up in hospital for a bit, and still has the marks from it.
Just hope my post has cheered you up........
