cheers fellas. I wasn't so hesitant to post this up, first bike that isn't a Halfords or decathlon special. oh apart from my specialized camber I had a couple of years back.

Ok so the search for a new bike continues... Got a call from them on my way home from work to say sorry but the bike you ordered isn't available. It's a limited edition so we can't get no more, here's an alternative but you will have to pay nearly another 1k! Errm no thanks. I'll have it for the same price though. He did a stock check on the alternative and guess what, they don't have that bike either!! I'm gutted, and my thoughts about commencal have been left tarnished. If they can't do a simple stock check then God knows what they are like when there is a problem with the bike. Waiting for my money back so I can find another, problem is, I can't find another bike I like, especially for around the price I paid... Any recommendations? Preferably one from a company who knows how to count from 1 to 0!

Gutting - that's a pretty poor show tbh. Also talk about adding insult to injury with the out of stock alternative. What sort of budget you working with? There's the Bird Aeris full bouncer: www.birdmtb.com/aeris-150-2/Or also the usual suspects of Rose, Canyon or YT.

If you always wanted one just look out for 2nd hand on pinkbike, there always seems to be someone selling one, probs not the same spec but still a Commy all the same

I'd buy one second hand but I like the idea of new as I get a warranty. I paid 1300 for the meta, it was a great deal! Only other thing is buy the v4 for another 300. But from CRC.
I'm now hoping I don't lose money on the refund as you buy the bike in euros so there's a currency conversion to be done by PayPal, I'm hoping it's the same rate when I get my money back, if not, commencal, get ready!

Tbh mate 1300 was an unbelievable price and you won't get anywhere near that spec at that price if you want new. That is shit of them on the out of stock. Console yourself that at near 14 kg that it was on the heavy side anyway.

Goode shout. Also as someone else said look at Rose, Bird's Aeris 3 at £1600 looks very good for the money and Canyon.

ok so I'm currently in negotiations with Commencal over the V4 version of this setup. Its an extra £250 ish but if I can get free shipping which is £50 ill probably get that. I CBA to wait for my money back so id rather them keep what I have paid and find a solution to this problem.
Still not impressed with them to be fair but in some way, I have them by the balls here, I'm sure ill get something out of this.
I just really like the meta am and no other bike is doing it for me to be fair, specs wise there are way better out there, but looks, not so much, not for my budget anyway.
I'll probably end up paying about £1550 for the bike.

Worth a quick call to Cotizens Advice ./ consumer rights I'm pretty sure that if a company advertises something for a certain price ..then takes your money ..they are obliged to supply the advertised goods ( or better ) for the said price.. Wether that extends to a company over the water ..I'm not sure ..but it wouldn't harm to find out

yeah I rang them but it's UK law and wouldn't stand in Andora. I rang the European trading institute and they basically said they don't have to offer you an alternative at the said price, if they offered a refund then that's within the law...
Hopefully they just come back saying free shipping, ill have the bike then.

I'm over the moon with my V4 (limited edition with the excellent 350 CR forks). I crash tested it on Saturday too and I can confirm it passed. Really, really well spec'd bikes for the money, just watch out that the wheels are schraeder, so I had to source valves from amazon (joe's valves) when I wanted to go tubeless.

Oh, and the brakes will be on backerd's, but the levers are ambidextrous so just flip them over!
