Just purchased a Whippet Frame. Red and White. Going to try and build a stupidly light long distance XC ride. Think this frames a decent place to start.
Got some Easton Vice Wheels to go on too, decent weight at 1800g for the pair too.
I'll look for some Carbon Rigid Forks too.
This will be a long project, any ideas will be welcome!
I'll post pics of frame once I've collected it.
Excited!

Sure about the rigid forks? for long distance? Unless it's all bridleway/towpath I'd reconsider.

Rigid forks would be superb for long distance.
Unless you're doing downhill, I wouldn't worry about reconsidering!

Yeah right - remind me of that 30 mile canal ride on the rigids?

Yeah right - remind me of that 30 mile canal ride on the rigids? Yeah but you have jelly arms! Us full rigid riders are double ard barstards

Ha ha! I've had rigid in the past, love the feel of them. I'll post some pics later.

Pace Titanium/Carbon Forks FSA Headset Specialized Stem (this is an old stem from the bottom of my spares box but its way lighter than a Thomson X4 that i've got)

So far, so good. Looks mint.
Are you tempted by carbon stem and seatpost too? I would be for a super lightweight build like yours!

Nice frame! Think My bones are getting too old for a fully rigid now as I can't just ride fire roads either. Even doing the Dog on one rattles my back to pieces now.

I'll be having carbon seatpost and bars. Stem I'll wait for, expensive for what they are. I've got Giant SXC-2 wheels to go on while I wait for Silverfish to get the part in for my Easton Vice, but eventually I'll invest in some carbon wheels too, £250 on Superstar and they're light as anything.
It's a bike that's going to be functional in so many ways, long distance and the charity road rides I do, commuter, and when the weathers awful and in winter I can use it for road riding too. It also keeps me interested looking for bits and bobs that are lighter than what I've got, know that sounds sad!

I know what you mean about a carbon stem. Just waiting for the Enve MTB stem to become available over here and expecting a price of around £250!
I'll keep my eyes on this build as I was very close to buying a Whippet full build a couple of years ago!

These are not the wheels that will be on the finished bike, I'm waiting for a part for some Easton Vice from Silverfish, hopefully will have it within the month.
