Having seen Dave on Monday and Graham last night ..we decided that as there is a trail build session at Kielder on Sunday we wanted a ride that wasn't going to be mega in terms of its length Step forward the Godfather Jaconelli ..who knows the woodland above Hexham better than most ( most of the bodies from his mafia hits are buried here) ..and has promised to cobble together something entertaining and will email details tonight . I will post the where and when once I know ..on here in case anyone wishes to join us .. Already confirmed Dave & Jean , Graham , Andy Rutter , Jaco and myself ..should be fun ! Still waiting on the lesser spotted B.M ..to let us know that he is still alive and hasn't been eaten by a lion / hippo / leopard etc ...

Many a thing said in jest.... Turns out that CBM has actually taken quite a serious fall while trying to escape said creatures ( above) while horse riding at speed in South Africa.. Get well soon ..ye wee Scottish hooligan ! ( although why they targeted you I've no idea ..you wouldn't make a reasonable snack ..never mind a family sized meal for a pride of lions! ) ...

Well ..we didn't actually do the plantations that I thought we were going to do ..apart from one very naughty bit of singletrack at the start of the ride ..which is actually footpath ( ssshhhh! ) running along a ridge line above the West Dipton Burn ..footpath it maybe but it's also one of the best bits of natural singletrack around , which we had the added bonus of returning on at the end of the ride ..( it rides better on the return ) Two redcoats ..and the first pic of the new boy ..Raymond on the right who fit right in and it was good to have him along ..normally rides northern trail centres on a rotational basis ..but hopefully will join us on a regular basis ( or as often as he wants too ) It was bloody windy ...so when Dave found a nice dry sawn off piece of telegraph pole on the non windy side of the wall it was time for a Sarnie stop , Everyone got a seat ..but we wouldn't let Graham on as he had just had an OTB a few mins earlier into a stinking bog ..which actually saved me a job as I had promised to push him into one for sending me an email earlier in the week saying ..and I quote " road bikes are cute !" Trouble is he is too bloody quick to catch .. From where we had come Great Lawsley on Eshells Moor ..the wall just to the left And where we were heading ..this eventually turns rocky before hitting the road below ..great fun ! Catching our breath before the link road section to Greenrigg Moor Greenrigg Moor .. Graham still sporting his wet arse..and treating us all to his North of England championship winning " gurn" The man is a legend in these parts .. The return leg along the West Dipton Burn ..the Godfather Jaconelli ,Jean & Raymond And again ... 21 harder than normal miles due to the ground conditions & battling the wind when we turned for home...which is usually the fastest part of the ride plus 1800+ ft of climbing made it a tough workout br]The pint of Golden Plover in " The Tanners " in Hexham afterwards was pure nectar ....
