went out this morning to do a 55km ride weather was a bit iffy but ok. not raining so we set off did about 14 kms and a stick went in my rear derailieure, and sent it round the wheel so that fooked that up, one ruined rear derailieure lucky it dident do me spokes as had them retightened last week, so i had to push back to the car as it was the full susser and the chain woudnt stay tight, allso bent the rear hanger in to the cog

you can do a get you home fix by converting to single speed but I wouldn`t want to have done 40kms in just 1 gear.
