One guys opinion pinched from Pinkbike can't bloody wait now The bestest most funnerest bike I've owned in over 20yrs. of riding. I seriously am giddy like a kid when I ride this! The Scout is playful, poppy, zippy..it begs me to toss it down areas, jumps off things, rip through flats...it even climbs like a spritely XC bike! I've parted out one bike for sale and am considering selling the other bike since I really only want to ride this. I've got an offset dropper coming(came with a KS Lev), and I'm going to swap out the SRAM Guide brakes for something more burly. And I'm considering going to a 150 Pike. Otherwise the bike is pretty set up for now

I'm looking for something a bit zippier so i think this would fit the bill for 90% of the riding i do, sounds like a riot of a bike, was talking to a guy in pedalsbikecare.co.uk/ and they're running out fast, especially large size Transition Patrol's

Are you going to try a patrol as well. If it was a case of one bike to do all that may better. To compliment my enduro I thought of selling if my bandit frame and forks and getting a scout frame after reading lots of great feedback on them.
I hovered over the checkout button of a limeade frame with 15% off on this bank holiday only for the sensible portion if my brain to kick in for a change and back off.
so please don't tell me how great it rides.

No please don't.
Oh there was guy not far from me selling a couple of months old one in large. For 2k, okay kit on it apart from some x fusion slant forks.

Saw one of these in blue/black......looked sweeet. Gets good reviews, would be on my shortlist if I ever got funds.

Mid travel bikes like the Scout are the future I say. As much much as I love my El Guapo it's a pain in the arse when it comes to climbing and although it will plough through anything you throw at it downhill, all that travel dumbs down the terrain if I'm honest. That's why when I come to replace it maybe next year I'll probably be going for something mid travel. I've been looking at the Scout, Santa Cruz Solo and the new Intense Spider 275 which is at the top of my list at the minute

It transformed my riding without me getting any fitter ..especially on climbs and having tested it at GT I can honestly say that it wasn't found wanting when you pointed it down . My gen 1 Nomad with 6" travel front and back is like a fucking Chieftan tank chasing a Bugatti Veyron in comparison! Have you tested any of the other bikes yourself yet ..or is this based on reviews ?

Have you tested any of the other bikes yourself yet ..or is this based on reviews ? I know you rate the Solo pretty highly Neil. I haven't tested any of the bikes as of yet but they have all had very good reviews. I'll not be replacing the El Guapo any time soon as I'm still building up the DH bike and I dare not even mention another new bike to Mrs TypeR without fear of being killed to death lol. When it it is time to replace it though it will be for something with less travel. You don't need 160+mm of travel for trail centers and days out in the hills, a good 130/140mm bike with modern geometry will be all you need and probably a hell of alot more fun That Intense Spider is feckin pure bike porn - that colour is amazing as is the rest of the bike. Want. Isn't it just, seriously want

I agree entirely on travel. The spider would be the perfect all rounder (must admit though, my Chief pretty much is too). You just don't need 160+ travel for trail centres and even most natural stuff.

I agree with you both ..but what you have to remember here is that the bike industry has moved on leaps and bounds since I bought that bike back in 2007 ! At the time "big was best " in the shallow world of mtb marketing and just like the rest of us I believed the hype ... I'm not complaining I have had a blast on my bike and it's taken me to some unbelievable places ..but tech has moved on and she is getting tired and old and doesn't move as quick as these new kids on the block...a bit like me really ..it's just unfortunate that other things have taken priority ( like saving my business) and I just haven't had the spare funds to keep up with the game .. She was an expensive lady back in the day ( £4,000+) and had some very expensive original clothes ! Like yourself though Stu ...hopefully next year I'll be doing something about it ...

Also got to say that at £5,000, the spider will remain just a 'want'!
